After more than 10 years of waiting for a new model, Nissan finally introduced a fully redesigned Frontier for 2022. While the truck arrived with a new design, a heavily updated interior, and new tech features, the powertrain remained the same. After being introduced as a fully redesigned model recently, we expect the 2023 Nissan Frontier to be a carryover model.
The current Frontier features a chunky design that has a few modern touches. The front end features a prominent grille that starts at the hood and runs halfway down the front fascia. C-shaped headlights flank the grille and sit above a stocky front bumper. At the back, the blocky rear end is broken up by “FRONTIER” that’s stamped into the tailgate and square taillights. As a carryover model, the 2023 Nissan Frontier should have the same exterior design as the pickup that’s on sale.
The fully redesigned Frontier arrived for the 2022 model year with a heavily updated interior design. The cabin has a V-shaped center console with the infotainment screen being integrated into the dash and splitting the four rectangular vents. The center console features large buttons and dials that make controls easy to use. With more soft-touch materials and upgraded trim pieces, the 2022 Frontier has a much nicer design than the previous generation. As a carryover model, we expect the 2023 Frontier to retain the same interior design as the current Frontier that’s on sale.
Nissan offers the current Frontier with a standard eight-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, six audio speakers, satellite radio, two USB ports, and Bluetooth. Available tech features include a nine-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hot spot, 10 audio speakers, a wireless charging pad, two extra USB ports, and navigation. These tech features should go unchanged for 2023.
There’s only one available engine for the 2022 Frontier and we don’t think it will change for 2023. A 3.8-liter V6 engine is standard, producing 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes with a nine-speed automatic transmission. When properly equipped, the Frontier can tow up to 6,720 pounds and haul up to 1,610 pounds.
The 2023 Nissan Frontier should have the same safety features as the current pickup that’s on sale. The Frontier comes with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a driver drowsiness monitor as standard. Available safety features include adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic emergency braking, and a surround-view camera system.
