Model Preview

After arriving as a fully redesigned vehicle for 2022, the 2023 Subaru BRZ is expected to be a carryover model. That’s alright by us, as the BRZ continues to be an affordable sports car that puts driver enjoyment at the forefront of what it does best.

When the BRZ arrived as an all-new model for 2022, it featured a sharper, more aggressive design than the conservative BRZ from the previous generation. As a carryover model, the 2023 BRZ should have the same exterior design as the current model that’s on sale. The front end has a wide air intake that’s positioned low on the front fascia. Two large creases emphasize the BRZ’s wide front end and connect with sharp headlights. The rear end has an angular rear bumper, two large exhaust outlets, triangular taillights, and a built-in rear spoiler.

On the inside, the current BRZ features a driver-oriented layout. The low seating position, heavily bolstered seats, and red accents help the BRZ’s cabin feel sporty. While the overall interior design of the coupe is simple, the physical controls for the HVAC system are well labeled and easy to use. A tachometer is the focal point of the digital instrument cluster, highlighting the BRZ’s sporty character. The 2023 BRZ should retain the same interior design as the 2022 model.

Tech features for the 2023 BRZ should remain the same as the ones found on the current sports car. That means the BRZ will come standard with an eight-inch touchscreen, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, two USB ports, satellite radio, and Bluetooth. Subaru doesn’t offer any optional tech features on the BRZ.

The BRZ will continue to feature a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine making 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while a six-speed automatic transmission is optional.

The only standard feature the current BRZ comes with is a rearview camera. Opt for the automatic transmission, and Subaru’s EyeSight suite of safety features becomes standard. Forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, high-beam assist, and lane departure warning are included with the suite. Available safety features include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Pricing & Release Date

Based on when Subaru released the 2022 BRZ, we expect the 2023 model to arrive at dealerships in fall 2022.

Without any major changes, prices for the 2023 Subaru BRZ should mirror the current model. The BRZ should start close to $28,955 (with destination) and go up to $31,455.

There aren’t many direct competitors to the BRZ these days. The Toyota GR86 and Mazda MX-5 Miata are the only other affordable, driver-oriented sports cars.
