Acura has officially unveiled the global version of the all-electric 2024 ZDX and ZDX Type S. The ZDX marks the first all-electric vehicle from Acura and is claimed to feature the automaker’s latest design language, come with the automaker's most advanced tech features, and be the most powerful SUV ever from Acura. The 2024 ZDX is built in partnership with General Motors and shares the same platform, and a few design elements, with the Cadillac Lyriq.

The global version of the 2024 Acura ZDX shares a lot of design elements with the Precision EV Concept that we saw a few years ago. The front end of the EV features check-mark style daytime running lights, sharp headlights, a faux grille with LED lights on the border, and angular cutouts on the front fascia. The available black roof gives the ZDX a floating roof design, while a sweeping trim piece on the top of the doors and chrome body cladding give the ZDX a sporty design. At the back, the ZDX features diamond-shaped taillights that wrap around to the side of the body, a rounded rear bumper, and a small rear spoiler.

Things are far more conservative for the 2024 Acura ZDX’s interior compared to the Precision EV Concept. The production version of the ZDX has a similar look to some of Acura’s current vehicles. The simple dashboard sweeps upward as it gets to the instrument cluster, while the central touchscreen is positioned at the front of the dash and sits on top of it. Acura has retained a few rows of physical controls and dials for the HVAC system. Red interior stitching and an available flat-bottom steering wheel are sportier touches on the inside. Based on the photos, it looks like the ZDX will have a column-mounted gear shifter that frees up space on the center console and makes it look like it’s floating. The ZDX will have seating for up to five people across two rows of seats.

At the time of launch, Acura confirmed that the 2024 ZDX will come with an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and a 11.3-inch touchscreen. The infotainment system utilizes the Google built-in system with Google Maps and Google Assistant. Other features will include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a Bang & Olufsen audio system. We expect to see Bluetooth, a wireless charging pad, multiple USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot to be available.

Acura will offer the 2024 ZDX with a few powertrains. The base ZDX will come with a single electric motor on the rear wheels rated at 340 horsepower. A second electric motor is available on the base ZDX that brings all-wheel drive, but Acura hasn’t confirmed the output for that configuration.

The high-performance ZDX Type S features a dual-motor design with up to 500 hp, air suspension, adaptive dampers, 22-inch wheels, and Brembo brakes. All ZDX models will come with a 102-kWh battery pack. The single-motor model has an estimated range of 325 miles, while the dual-motor ZDX is estimated to be able to travel up to 315 miles. The sporty ZDX Type S has an estimated range of 288 miles.

On the safety front, the 2024 Acura ZDX will come standard with AcuraWatch. The advanced safety suite should include standard forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane keeping assists, and lane departure warning. We expect blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist, and adaptive cruise control to be available.

Pricing & Release Date

Acura has confirmed that the 2024 ZDX will start at around $60,000 and is expected to be delivered to shoppers starting in early 2024. We expect the sporty Type S to start at around $75,000 to $80,000.

The ZDX will compete against other all-electric SUVs like the Audi Q4 e-tron, Genesis Electrified GV70, Cadillac Lyriq, Genesis GV60, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6, and Ford Mustang Mach-E.
