Chevrolet is pushing the Corvette into the electrified era with the introduction of the 2024 E-Ray. The long-rumored hybrid version of the sports car arrives with all-wheel drive (AWD) and 655 horsepower. Here’s what you need to know about the electrified 2024 Corvette E-Ray.
The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray features similar styling to the track-oriented Corvette Z06. The electrified sports car has the same wide-body exterior as the Z06, which makes it 3.6 inches wider than the standard Stingray. The sports car will be offered in 14 exterior paint jobs, including a few new paint schemes for 2024 that include Riptide Blue, Cacti, and Seawolf Gray.
The E-Ray is available with an exclusive body-length stripe package in Electric Blue that differentiates it from other Corvette models. Carbon fiber wheels are optional on the E-Ray. Overall, the 2024 E-Ray shares the same sharp, aggressive styling as the Z06 with its pointy noise, large air intakes, wide rear end, and quad exhaust outlets.
Chevrolet hasn’t made any massive changes to the Corvette’s interior to make the E-Ray different from the other sports car in the lineup. The sports car features a unique interior design with a central touchscreen that’s angled toward the driver, a square steering wheel, and an elongated trim piece that houses all of the car’s physical controls.
The all-new E-Ray comes with Chevrolet’s new Artemis Dipped interior, which describes the green tones found throughout the cabin. Just like other Corvettes, the E-Ray’s roof on coupe models is removable. Because of the hybrid powertrain, the E-Ray loses some cargo capacity capered to other models, as it offers 12.5 cubic feet of cargo space in its trunk.
Chevrolet hasn’t confirmed all of the E-Ray’s features yet. We expect the sports car to come with the same tech features as other Corvettes. An eight-inch touchscreen, 12-inch digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 10 audio speakers, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, an HD radio, and two USB ports are expected to be standard. Available features should include 14 audio speakers, a wireless charging pad, a dashcam, and navigation. The E-Ray will have special graphics to showcase the hybrid powertrain.
Power for the 2024 E-Ray comes from a 6.2-liter V8 engine that drives the rear wheels and an electric motor on the front axle that powers the front wheels. The combined output is rated at 655 horsepower. While the E-Ray’s hybrid powertrain adds an extra 300 pounds of weight over the Z06, the E-Ray is quicker to 60 mph with a time of 2.5 seconds. That figure makes it the quickest Corvette ever produced. With a 1.9-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the E-Ray has 5 miles of all-electric range. The E-Ray has a unique model called Stealth Mode that allows for all-electric driving at speeds of up to 45 mph.
The 2024 E-Ray should be available with the same safety features as other Corvettes. The Corvette comes standard with rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and a Teen Driver system. Available safety features should include blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a forward-facing camera.
