Model Preview
The 2024 Polestar 2 arrives with some large changes for the new model year. More range, improved performance, standard rear-wheel drive, and slight visual changes round out the alterations to Volvo’s smallest EV.
On the outside, the most obvious changes take place on the Polestar 2’s front end. The all-electric sedan gets a new flat front grille design for 2024. The new grille gives the 2024 Polestar 2 a similar front-end design to the Polestar 3 SUV. Polestar refers to the new grille as the “SmartZone,” which is a fitting name as the flat portion houses all of the vehicle’s sensors and components for its advanced driver-assist features. Beyond the new front grille, the 2024 Polestar 2 has a similar design to the current model that’s on sale.
The interior design of the 2024 Polestar 2 isn’t expected to change for the new model year. The current Polestar 2 features a simple, upscale design with clean lines. The dashboard has a tiered design with a top portion that curves up as it reaches the steering wheel. The center console features a V-shape and sweeps up to connect with the dashboard. A vertically mounted touchscreen is positioned in the middle of the dashboard and sits in the center of the V-shaped center console. As a nod toward its eco-friendly character, the Polestar 2’s interior features wood, plastic, and vegan fabric.

Polestar isn’t expected to make any changes to the Polestar 2’s tech features for 2024. The electric sedan will continue to come with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.2-inch touchscreen. The infotainment system is running Google’s Android Automotive OS infotainment system that’s meant to mimic an Android smartphone. Other standard features should include Google built-in, four USB ports, Bluetooth, eight audio speakers, and satellite radio.
The largest changes for the 2024 Polestar 2 take place for the electric car’s powertrain. Last year’s single-motor configuration with front-wheel drive has been replaced with rear-wheel drive. The base model also arrives with a more powerful electric motor that makes 299 horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque. Compared to the previous base model, the rear-wheel-drive Polestar 2 is 1.1 seconds quicker to 60 mph. Range for the base model has gone up from 270 miles to 300 miles thanks to a larger 82-kWh battery pack. The dual-motor Polestar 2 also arrives with new motors for a bump in power to 421 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque. The model gets rear-biased performance for sportier handling. Range increases slightly by 10 miles for the trim to 270 miles. The available Dual Motor Performance Pack raises power to 455.
The 2024 Polestar 2 is expected to continue to come with the same features as the current model that’s on sale. The electric sedan currently comes with a forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, automatic high-beam assist, traffic sign recognition, a driver attention monitor, and parking sensors. Available safety features include blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a surround-view parking camera, adaptive cruise control, and Polestar’s Pilot Assist system.
