2024 Subaru Legacy

Model Preview

The 2024 Subaru Legacy is ready to get this model year underway. With the 2023 model receiving a mid-cycle refresh, we expect the Legacy to be a carryover model. We don't expect to see any major changes to the all-wheel drive sedan.

Outside the mid-sized sedan carries the same bold styling as the 2023 model. With aggressive-looking headlights and a wide front facia and a large grille, the Legacy seems ready for action. This is especially true in the mid-range Sport trim, which features red accents across the front grille, magnetite gray metallic side mirrors and trunk spoiler, and 18-inch gray alloy wheels.

However, according to Subaru, we know the base 2024 model, which features Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Active torque vectoring, only carries a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter BOXER engine that produces 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. This doesn't provide as much grunt as we'd like to see off the line. The engine is paired with a Lineartronic CVT with an 8-speed manual shift mode and paddle shifters. The Sport trim gets a standard 260 hp 2.4-liter turbo BOXER engine, which is much peppier.

The Subaru Legacy comes in five trim levels for the 2024 model year. Depending on trim, some features vary, but even Legacy Base comes with Subaru's EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which features adaptive cruise control with lane centering, LED steering responsive headlights with high beam assist, and a rear camera with adaptive guidelines, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. One upgrade this year is that the dome light has been upgraded to an LED light. The Legacy continues to feature power windows, door locks, fuel door, and mirrors and includes a USB-A port and a 3.5 mm aux jack in the front center console.

The Base 2024 Legacy comes with dual seven-inch screens which are equipped with STARLINK and improved on-screen controls. The top touchscreen operates the audio system which features AM/FM/HD Radio, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio connectivity, and SiriusXM, and SiriusXM Travel link, plus a rearview camera, while the lower screen controls EyeSight, Climate, and vehicle controls. There's also a standard security system and remote keyless entry.

Stepping up to Premium you get the STARLINK 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto with a full-screen display. The front center console features illuminated USB-A and USB-C ports and a 3.5 mm aux jack. There are two more charging ports in the rear, along with ventilation. The list of standard features grows as you move up the model line, and the 2024 Legacy Sport now comes standard with the Subaru STARLINK 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system featuring a Harman Kardon® speaker system with a 576-watt equivalent amplifier, and a power moonroof.

The Limited trim features all the upgrades of the Premium model and adds perforated leather-trimmed upholstery, heated rear seatbacks, rear A/C outlets, and Keyless Access with Push-Button Start. Standard driver-assist technologies include Reverse Automatic Braking and Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist; and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert as well as Automatic Emergency Steering.

Range-topped Touring XT takes the Legacy to its maximum potential with the power moonroof, a 360-degree heated steering wheel, the Starlink 11.6-inch Multimedia Navigation system, the Harman Kardon speaker system, 180-degree Front View Monitor, and DriverFocus. The Touring XT also comes with including exterior side satin chrome finish mirrors with integrated turn signals and Nappa Leather upholstery. The top-of-the-line Legacy is powered by the 2.4-liter turbo BOXER engine delivering 260 hp and 277 lb.-ft. of torque.
