Model Preview
Toyota is expanding its lineup of SUVs with a new option for 2024 with the Grand Highlander. The Grand Highlander is basically a stretched and more upscale version of the Highlander midsize SUV. So, the new SUV will be positioned above the Highlander, but below the Sequoia in Toyota’s hierarchy of SUVs. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander.
The Grand Highlander features an upscale exterior design that has some elements of the Highlander. The SUV features a boxy, long design that makes it look upscale. The front end features a slim grille and a wide lower air intake. The sharp headlights are connected by a trim piece, while the upright look is unique to Toyota’s SUVs. The rear end features subdued styling with C-shaped taillights, a simplified rear bumper, and an upright rear liftgate.
The most obvious upgrade the Grand Highlander brings over the regular Highlander is a larger cabin. The Grand Highlander’s wheelbase is roughly four inches longer than the Highlander’s, which results in 5.5 more inches of third-row legroom. The premium look carries on into the interior, where the Grand Highlander features a high-end design. The dashboard flows directly into the air vents, while a large central touchscreen is positioned at the front of the dash. There’s a horizontal row of physical controls for the HVAC system, while the wide center console features a lot of storage space.

The range-topping version of the Grand Highlander will come with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor for up to 362 hp. Toyota claims the Grand Highlander will be rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.
