2024 Volkswagen ID. Buzz Preview Price, Specs, Photos, Release Date
After a long wait, Volkswagen has finally unveiled the U.S.-ready version of the 2024 I.D. Buzz. The electric van marks one of the first all-electric passenger vans on sale and looks to invoke nostalgia with a design that resembles the brand’s Type 2 Microbus. Here’s what you need to know about the I.D. Buzz.
The design of the 2024 Volkswagen I.D. Buzz resembles the automaker’s iconic Type 2 Microbus. The I.D. Buzz features a boxy silhouette that won’t be confused for anything other than a van. The van’s available two-tone exterior design, funky wheel options, short overhangs, and expansive windows give the I.D. Buzz a unique design. The rounded front end of the I.D. Buzz features tear-drop-shaped headlights, a slim grille, and a large windshield. The I.D. Buzz has a wheelbase that stretches 127.5 inches. At the back, the van has an upright design and slim taillights.
Because of its wide windows, elongated body, and innovative packaging of its electric powertrain, the I.D. Buzz has an enormous cabin that’s highly configurable. The simple interior design paves the way forward for innovative features like adjustable armrests in the front, fold-out tables in the second row, and a removable center console between the front seats. The 2024 I.D. Buzz will come with seating for up to seven across three rows of seats as standard.
We'll email you as soon as the 2024 Volkswagen ID. Buzz becomes available.
On the tech front, the I.D. Buzz will come with a standard 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch central touchscreen. Other standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, nine audio speakers, and eight USB-C ports. We expect a wireless charging pad, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a Harman Kardon audio system to be available.
Volkswagen will offer the I.D. Buzz with two different powertrains. The base van will come with a single electric motor on the rear wheels that makes 282 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The available all-wheel-drive model comes with two electric motors for 330 hp. The I.D. Buzz comes with a 91-kWh battery pack that can charge at up to 170 kW. Volkswagen has not confirmed range or charge times yet.
Every 2024 Volkswagen I.D. Buzz will come with the automaker’s IQ Drive suite of advanced safety features. Forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Available safety features include a surround-view camera, remote park assist, and a head-up display.
Pricing & Release Date
Pricing for the 2024 Volkswagen I.D. Buzz has not been announced yet. We think the electric minivan will start at around $40,000. The I.D. Buzz is set to arrive at dealerships in early 2024.
When the I.D. Buzz goes on sale, it will be the only all-electric passenger van on sale. It will compete against competitors like the Kia Carnival, Toyota Sienna, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, and Honda Odyssey.
