The 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale will likely see little change for its second year on the market. The Tonale bowed for 2024 as the brand's first subcompact crossover, boasting standard plug-in hybrid technology and a level of performance not usually associated with this class of vehicle.

We expect the 2025 Tonale will continue to offer abundant features and aggressive looks for buyers prioritizing performance over utility. That's not to say the Tonale is impractical. It can seat five while carrying up to 22.9 cubic feet of cargo, far beyond the capability of a sporty passenger car.

With the rear seat folded, cargo space expands to 50.5 cubic feet, which is decent for a subcompact, regardless of performance potential. We expect standard features to carry over, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen, fully digital instrumentation, heated power front seats, power-folding side mirrors, a heated steering wheel, automatic wipers, and remote start.

Alfa Romeo Tonale

The Tonale is powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine and an electric motor. This setup currently uses a six-speed automatic transmission and produces a total of 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. All models feature all-wheel drive and adaptive suspension system. According to Alfa Romeo, the Tonale can travel up to 30 miles on electricity alone on a full charge.

The Tonale's three trim levels will likely continue for 2025: Sprint, Ti, and Veloce. The Ti adds a power liftgate, adjustable suspension dampers, and access to luxury and tech upgrades. The Veloce offers an Alcantara interior, appearance enhancements, and unique 19-inch wheels.

When it comes to driver assistance features, the Tonale will likely retain its current slate of technology, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, automatic high beams, road sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, rear parking sensors, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Options for the 2025 Tonale will likely include surround-view cameras, speed limit assist, and an automatic parking system.

Pricing & Release Date

Based on the current production schedule, we expect the 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale to arrive at dealers in spring 2024. Pricing will likely start around $45,000 including destination and advance to about $52,000 for the Veloce.

The Tonale competes with subcompact luxury crossovers like the Volvo XC40, BMW X1, and Audi Q3.
