What To Expect

The current BMW X4 came out in 2019 as part of the second generation for the sporty compact SUV. With the X4 set to arrive for the 2025 model year, we expect to see a carryover model without any major changes. Reports indicate that the X4 could be discontinued before the end of 2025 and will make way for an all-electric iX4 that should go on sale in early 2027. Here’s what we know about the 2025 BMW X4.

As a carryover model, the 2025 BMW X4 should retain the same exterior design as the current model that’s on sale. The current X4 features a sporty design with square grilles, oval headlights, and sporty cutouts in the front fascia. Along the side, the X4’s coupe-inspired design and heavily-raked windshield give it a sporty stance. The rear end of the X4 has a blunt tailgate, a chunky rear bumper, and large dual exhaust outlets.

We don’t expect to see any changes to the BMW X4’s interior design for the 2025 model year. The current model has BMW’s older design with a central touchscreen that’s positioned on top of the dash, two rows of physical controls, and a digital instrument cluster that’s recessed into the dash. Metal-faced petals, large shift paddles, and M badges give the cabin a sporty feel.

On the tech front, the 2025 BMW X4 should come with the same tech features as the current model that’s on sale. The current X4 comes standard with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a Wi-Fi hotspot, four USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, 12 audio speakers, navigation, and satellite radio.

2025 BMW X4 Engine & Specs

The 2025 BMW X4 is expected to come with the same engines as the 2024 model. BMW currently offers the X4 in two trims. The base xDrive30i comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

The available M40i trim comes with a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that’s rated at 382 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and route power to all four wheels through an all-wheel-drive system.

2025 BMW X4 Safety

Standard safety features on the 2025 BMW X4 should include pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, a driver attention monitor, and automatic high-beam assist.

2025 BMW X4 Price

Pricing for the 2025 BMW X4 has not been announced yet. Without any major changes, it should continue to have a similar price tag as the 2024 model which ranges from $55,995 to $67,395.

Competitors include the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, Audi Q5 Sportback, Genesis GV70, Lexus NX, Jaguar F-Pace, Porsche Macan, and INFINITI QX55.

2025 BMW X4 Release Date

BMW has not announced when the 2025 X4 will go on sale. The 2024 model year went on sale in June 2023, so we estimate that the 2025 model will arrive at dealerships in June 2024. More information on the compact SUV should become available within the next few months.
