Model Preview

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of the Corvette lineup, namely around its evolution into a separate sub-brand. While a lot of the intrigue has been surrounding the upcoming ERAY plug-in hybrid, that isn’t the only Corvette model on the horizon. The long-awaited ZR1 is expected to be joining the C8 family.

The ZR1 nameplate has been offered on and off since 1970 and has served as the top dog in the Corvette lineup. Its last iteration was powered by a 755-horsepower supercharged V8. According to Autoblog, a leaked document from GM suggests that the C8 ZR-1 will develop 850 hp and 825 lb-ft of torque. The same document also suggests we will be seeing the ZR-1 in 2024, but we’re not sure if it will be introduced as a 2024 or 2025 model.

CarScoops published all the data from said document, which revealed an even higher-performance Corvette variant called the ZORA. The ZORA will reportedly share the ZR-1’s twin-turbo V8, but will also feature a hybrid system that will push horsepower to 1,000 and torque to 975 lb-ft.

We don’t know much else about the upcoming high-performance ‘Vettes. We expect them to offer similar features to Corvette models currently on sale, but with some added drive modes or other performance bells and whistles. The current Corvette sports Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 Plus system, which includes an 8” touchscreen, 4G LTE mobile hotspot, and is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Pricing for the 2025 Corvette is still a mystery, but the 2023 base 1LT trim starts at $65,895. We expect the optional extras to continue to be expensive and numerous. Couple those with dealer markups and more generously optioned Corvettes can approach the $150,000 mark. Don’t expect the higher-performance and lower-production models to fair any better in that regard.

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette will compete with the Porsche 911, Porsche 718, and reportedly the next-generation Shelby GT500 Mustang.
