What To Expect

The 2025 Ford Escape may be the final iteration of the brand's long-running compact crossover. According to reports, the Escape is reaching the end of its lifecycle, and no direct replacement is planned. The current model debuted in 2020 and received a thorough refresh for 2023. We expect no significant changes for the coming — and possibly final — model year.

The Escape offers seating for five and up to 65.4 feet of cargo space, as well as a choice of gas and hybrid powerplants. Standard equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen, digital instrumentation, wireless smartphone integration, a power liftgate, and the Ford Co-Pilot360 safety system. The Escape scales into near-luxury territory with available amenities like quilted leather seats, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a 13.2-inch touchscreen, and a panoramic sunroof.

2025 Ford Escape Engine & Specs

The Escape will likely retain its current engine roster, which starts with a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder that develops 180 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. Available with front- or all-wheel drive, the 1.5-liter comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. AWD is standard with the optional 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo, which puts out 250 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. The larger engine enables the Escape to tow up to 3,500 pounds.

The Escape Hybrid carries a 2.5-liter gas four-cylinder and an electric motor for a total of 192 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid setup is EPA-rated at 39 miles per gallon in combined driving with either FWD or AWD. The FWD-only Escape Plug-In Hybrid provides a boost to 210 hp and can travel up to 37 miles on electricity alone. When operating in hybrid mode, the PHEV returns 40 mpg combined. Both hybrid models use a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

2025 Ford Escape Safety

Every Escape currently comes with lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. We're confident Ford will continue to offer advanced upgrades like surround-view cameras, adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, evasive steering assist, automated parking, and reverse automatic braking.

The current Escape receives a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

2025 Ford Escape Price

We expect pricing to reflect the customary annual increase. The 2024 Escape's pricing starts at $30,840 including destination and climbs to $41,665 for the PHEV.

The Escape competes with popular compact crossovers like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Hyundai Tuscon.

2025 Ford Escape Release Date
