What To Expect

The 2025 GMC Terrain will reportedly arrive in all-new form, complete with updated drivetrains, expanded tech features, and bolder styling. According to spy photos, the upcoming Terrain displays an elevated profile, aggressive lower-body cladding, a larger grille, and dual rectangular exhaust outlets.

The Terran will retain its compact dimensions and two-row interior. The dashboard features a digital instrument screen and an enlarged vertical touchscreen, perhaps measuring 15 inches. Photos also suggest the Terrain will adopt a column-mounted gear shift to free up console space. The Terrain will likely share its mechanical setup with the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, which will debut on the same platform.

2025 GMC Terrain Engine & Specs

We expect the Terrain to carry GM's latest turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which currently makes 175 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The engine uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT) in front-drive applications and an eight-speed automatic when paired with all-wheel drive. AWD models will likely receive a modest boost in torque.

EPA ratings aren't available yet, but the new transmissions should help with fuel efficiency. The outgoing Terrain is rated at 28 miles per gallon combined with front-wheel drive and 26 mpg combined with AWD. Towing capacity will probably remain at 1,500 pounds.

2025 GMC Terrain Safety

The 2025 Terrain will likely carry a comprehensive set of standard driver-assistance features, including lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams, and automatic emergency braking. Options are sure to include adaptive cruise control, surround-view cameras, and automated parking.

GM's SuperCruise hands-free highway driving system could become available on the Terrain for the first time. If so, SuperCruise will likely appear on the luxurious Denali trim only.

The outgoing Terrain has performed well in crash tests, earning a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA and a "Good" score in most IIHS tests. The agencies will no doubt evaluate the 2025 Terrain once examples become available.

2025 GMC Terrain Price

We expect the all-new Terrain to start around $32,000 including destination. The line-topping Denali could reach about $44,000.

The Terrain will compete with other compact SUVs like the Honda CR-V, Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson.

2025 GMC Terrain Release Date

We estimate the 2025 Terrain will arrive at dealers in summer 2024. We'll provide further details on the redesigned Terrain as they become available.
