What To Expect

While the current Mazda CX-5 belongs to the second-gen SUV that was introduced in 2017, the compact SUV will be a carryover model for 2025. We don’t expect Mazda to make any major changes to the 2025 Mazda CX-5. Here’s what we expect from the new CX-5.

Unlike other SUVs in Mazda’s lineup, the CX-5 forgoes a rugged look for a more premium and sporty design. The 2025 Mazda CX-5 is expected to retain the same exterior design as the current SUV that’s on sale. The current CX-5 has an upscale design with thin headlights, a slim air intake opening, a tidy oval grille, and available chrome exterior accents. The bulbous rear end and elegant body lines along the side of the SUV are differentiators from more rugged and boxy looks. The rear end of the CX-5 features triangular taillights and dual exhaust outlets.

The interior design of the 2025 Mazda CX-5 will continue to have an upscale look with elegant lines, simple interior controls, and high-quality materials. Unlike other automakers, Mazda continues to fit the CX-5 with physical controls for the HVAC and infotainment systems for ease of use, while the clear gauges and traditional gear shifter further help the CX-5 stand out as one of the more user-friendly options in the segment.

The current Mazda CX-5’s infotainment system dates the SUV and we don’t expect Mazda to make any updates for the 2025 model year. The current SUV comes with a 10.25-inch display, a 4.6-inch driver information display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, six audio speakers, Bluetooth, and an HD Radio.

Competitors in the segment are available with larger screens and, unlike other systems, Mazda’s only has partial touch capability. The main way to control the infotainment system is through a small rotary knob and physical controls positioned behind the gear shifter.

2025 Mazda CX-5 Engine & Specs

Mazda offers the current CX-5 with two engines. These engines are expected to remain the same for the 2025 Mazda CX-5. The CX-5 comes with a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 187 horsepower. A turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is available and makes up to 256 hp with premium fuel. A six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard.

2025 Mazda CX-5 Safety

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 should come with the same standard safety features as the current SUV that’s on sale. Mazda offers the CX-5 with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring. Available safety features include a driver-attention monitor, traffic sign recognition, parking sensors, and a surround-view camera.

2025 Mazda CX-5 Price

Information on how much the 2025 Mazda CX-5 will cost isn’t available yet. Without any major changes, pricing should remain close to the current model which ranges from $30,675 to $41,975.

Competitors in the compact SUV segment include the Kia Sportage, Honda CR-V, Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forester, and Nissan Rogue.

2025 Mazda CX-5 Release Date
