Model Preview

Mazda introduced the 2024 CX-90 as an all-new midsize SUV to help the brand go upstream. With the CX-90 coming off of being an all-new model, we don’t expect to see any changes to the SUV for the 2025 model year.

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 will have the same exterior design as the current CX-90 that’s on sale. The midsize SUV features an upscale look with an oval grille, round headlights, and a wide front air intake. The SUV features smooth lines and rounded edges for an upscale look. The rear end has thin taillights, a small rear spoiler, and a smooth rear bumper.

On the inside, the current CX-90 has a premium look with a stylish design, high-end materials, and a great fit and finish. An available two-tone design furthers the CX-90’s luxurious look. The CX-90 features a tiered dashboard with a central screen nestled in the dash.

The controls for the HVAC system are positioned directly below the air vents. Mazda continues to rely on a click wheel for the infotainment system with the dial being positioned behind the gear shifter. Clear gauges, a circular four-pronged steering wheel, and simple controls make the CX-90’s cabin easy to use. Mazda isn’t expected to make any changes to the SUV’s interior for the 2025 model year.

When it comes to tech features, the 2025 Mazda CX-90 should continue to come with the same tech features as the current model that’s on sale. The midsize SUV comes with a standard 10.25-inch display, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, eight audio speakers, Bluetooth, four USB ports, and a seven-inch digital instrument cluster display. Available tech features include a 12.3-inch display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charging pad, navigation, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and satellite radio.

Mazda is expected to continue to offer the CX-90 with three different powertrains for 2025. The base engine in the CX-90 is a turbocharged 3.3-liter six-cylinder engine that makes 280 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque.

CX-90 S trims have a more powerful version of the engine that’s rated at 340 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. The CX-90 is also available with a plug-in hybrid engine with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 17.8-kWh battery pack. The CX-90 PHEV makes 323 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to its electric battery, the CX-90 PHEV can travel up to 26 miles on electricity. All CX-90 models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Standard safety features on the 2025 Mazda CX-90 should include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, automatic high-beam assist, vehicle exit warning, and rear-seat alert. Available safety features include rear pedestrian detection, reverse automatic emergency braking, front cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, a surround-view parking camera, and parking sensors.

Pricing & Release Date

Based on the 2024 Mazda CX-90’s release date, we expect the 2025 CX-90 to arrive in early 2024. Without any major changes, the 2025 CX-90 should remain close to the current model's pricing and cost between $40,970 to $61,325.

The midsize CX-90 competes against SUVs like the Kia Telluride, Toyota Grand Highlander, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Chevrolet Traverse, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Volkswagen Atlas, and Nissan Pathfinder.
