What To Expect

The Porsche 911 is perhaps the most iconic sports car of all time, and it's reportedly getting some significant updates soon. Its upcoming refresh for the 2025 model year is said to bring electrification into the 911 family for the first time, in the form of a new hybrid system. There hasn't been an official announcement from Porsche yet, but here's what we know so far about the refreshed 2025 Porsche 911.

We're still awaiting an official press release for the hybrid 911, but Car and Driver reports that hybrid-equipped models are expected to be equipped a 48-volt hybrid system that drives the front wheels. The hybrid system reportedly draws inspiration from the KERS system found in Formula One cars and is expected to increase total output by between 80 and 90 hp. Car and Driver expects the Carrera S and GTS to be the first trims to receive the hybrid treatment, but we'll know more for sure closer to their release date.

The gas-only 911s are also reportedly getting powertrain upgrades for the 2025 model year. The base Carrera and Carrera S are said to be getting an 11-hp bump to their twin-turbocharged 3.0L flat-sixes, while the GTS gets a new engine altogether. The GTS is reportedly losing its 3.0L twin-turbo flat-six in favor of a 3.7L naturally aspirated unit. Power is set to increase by 10 up to 483 hp, but torque is decreasing by 7 lb-ft, granted the GTS will still churn out 413.

Other updates we're expecting to see for the 2025 model year include improved aerodynamics and changes to the interior. There's a chance the 2025 911 will eschew the current model's physical tachometer, but we'd be a bit surprised if Porsche opted to go all-digital with the Carrera's dash. The 2024 911 currently features a 10.9" infotainment screen in the center of the dash, which we may see get upgraded in terms of hardware or software.

2025 Porsche 911 Price & Release Date

The gas 2025 911 is expected to arrive later this year, but the hybrid model reportedly won't be available until 2025. We'll know for sure following an announcement from Porsche. Current 911 pricing starts at $116,050 and can quickly exceed $200,000, and we're expecting the updates and the electrification to carry premiums.
