2025 Subaru Ascent Redesign Info, Release Date

2025 Subaru Ascent

Model Preview

The 2025 Subaru Ascent continues as the brand's go-to vehicle for buyers who need space for the whole family. We've heard that the Ascent could receive a refresh for 2025, but the rumors haven't been confirmed. If Subaru does treat the Ascent to an update, we expect the changes to be largely cosmetic. The current Ascent feels a little dated in the design department but remains a strong contender in a three-row crossover market.

The Ascent offers seating for eight and up to 87 cubic feet of cargo space, placing it firmly in the large crossover class. The Ascent's boxy shape may not be inspiring, but it does afford plenty of room for people and things. Standard interior features include an 11.6-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and tri-zone climate control.

We doubt Subaru will make any changes to the Ascent's capable drivetrain. The turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine produces 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission are also standard. The Ascent can handle moderate off-road duty thanks to 8.7 inches of ground clearance and standard hill descent control. The Ascent is rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds, more than any other Subaru model.

It's likely that the Ascent will adopt hybrid power at some point, but not as soon as next year. EPA ratings with the current mechanical setup are 21 miles per gallon city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 combined.

We expect the Ascent's current trims to carry over: Base, Premium, Limited, and Touring. The Premium adds popular equipment like heated front seats and Wi-Fi capability. The Limited features leather upholstery and a power liftgate. The Touring gets Nappa leather, a Harman Kardon sound system, and a panoramic sunroof.

Safety is integral to the Ascent's appeal, so its strong slate of standard driver assistance features will certainly continue. Every Ascent comes with adaptive cruise control with lane centering, emergency steering assist, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive headlights with automatic high beams.

Pricing & Release Date

We expect the 2025 Subaru Ascent to arrive at dealers in the second half of 2024.

2024 Subaru Ascent pricing will likely start around $35,000 and advance to nearly $50,000 for a fully loaded example.

The Ascent competes with family-size crossovers like the Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, and Toyota Highlander
