2025 Subaru Legacy Redesign Info & Release Date

2025 Subaru Legacy

Model Preview

The 2025 Subaru Legacy will continue to hold the brand's place in the family sedan market. We've heard rumors of an impending redesign, but we don't expect major changes to arrive by next year. The Legacy received a thorough refresh for 2023, and we think it's going to stick around in its current form for at least another year.

Like other midsize sedans, the Legacy offers seating for five, a roomy trunk, and practical if not exciting design. Buyers also get something unexpected in this class — standard all-wheel drive. We expect Subaru to maintain the current interior, which includes 7-inch upper and lower touchscreens, automatic climate control, and a full slate of available comfort and infotainment upgrades.

The Legacy's powertrains will likely carry over as well. The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine puts out 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. The available 2.4-liter turbo provides 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. Every Legacy gets AWD and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with paddle shifters.

Subaru will probably offer the Legacy in the current five trim levels: Base, Premium, Limited, Sport, and Touring XT. The Premium adds interior features like a single 11.4-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, and a power driver seat. The Limited comes with leather upholstery, heated rear seats, and a premium Karman Hardon sound system.

The Sport is the first trim equipped with the turbocharged engine, and the Touring XT builds on that with Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, and power-folding side mirrors. We're confident the Premium model will remain the volume leader of the Legacy lineup.

For safety, every Legacy will likely come with lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control with lane centering, adaptive LED headlights with automatic high beams, and front automatic emergency braking with steering assist. Reverse automatic braking and driver alertness monitoring will probably remain on tap for the Limited and above.

Pricing & Release Date

We expect the 2025 Subaru Legacy to arrive at dealers in fall 2024.

Pricing will likely start around $26,000 including destination and advance to just under $40,000 for the Legacy XT.

The Legacy competes with other midsize sedans like the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, and Nissan Altima.
