What To Expect

The Crown joined the Toyota lineup for the 2023 model year as the brand's flagship sedan offering, replacing the Avalon. Being such a recent model, we expect no major changes for the 2025 model year. That being said, the 2025 Crown does gain a new Nightshade trim. Here's what to expect from the carryover 2025 Toyota Crown.

Toyota hasn't officially revealed the 2025 Crown yet, but we're expecting minimal to no changes to its exterior design. The Crown differs from its predecessor and its competitors by blurring the line between sedan and crossover. Its shape is decidedly car-like, but the Crown's ride height and ground clearance rival that of some small SUVs.

Like the exterior, we're not expecting any significant updates to the 2025 Crown's interior. The current Crown's cabin features a modern design with quality akin to that of a Lexus. The dash is punctuated by a dual 12.3" screen layout, and standard equipment includes heated seats, ambient lighting, a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless charging, and two USB-C ports.

2025 Toyota Crown Engine & Specs

The 2024 Crown is offered with two powertrain options, and we're not expecting any engine changes for 2025. The base engine setup is a 2.5L four-cylinder paired with three small electric motors with a combined output of 236 hp.

The top-of-the-range Platinum trim is powered by a turbocharged 2.4L four-cylinder paired with an electric motor that combines for 340 hp. The Crown is unique for this segment in that it's both hybrid and all-wheel drive only. The 2.5L-powered trims get their power to the wheels via a continuously variable transmission, but the Platinum utilizes a traditional six-speed automatic.

2025 Toyota Crown Safety

We aren't anticipating any changes to the 2025 Crown's safety and driver assistance suite. The current model comes standard with adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, road sign recognition, and automatic emergency braking. Surround-view cameras, rear parking sensors, traffic jam assist, lane change assist, and front cross-traffic assist are all optional extras.

2025 Toyota Crown Price

2025 Crown pricing starts at $41,440 (excluding destination), which is $1,090 higher than the 2024 model's starting MSRP. That increase is on the steep side given the lack of meaningful updates. The Nightshade model is new for 2025 and features unique paint and wheels, and slots in between the Limited and the Platinum models.

Here's a complete breakdown of 2025 Crown pricing:

2025 Toyota Crown Pricing

Vehicle TrimMSRPPrice Increase
XLE$41,440$1,090
Limited$45,950$0
Nightshade Edition$48,765N/A
Platinum$54,990$1,620

The 2025 Toyota Crown won't really have any direct competition, as full-size sedans like the Chrysler 300 and Nissan Maxima are set to be discontinued. Instead, the Crown will likely compete with midsize sedans like the Lexus ES, and subcompact SUVs like the Volvo XC40.

2025 Toyota Crown Release Date

Toyota hasn't announced a release date for the 2025 Crown yet, but we're expecting to see it arrive at dealer lots in the latter half of this year.
