What To Expect

The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta will likely arrive without major change, although a light refresh is possible. According to some reports, the Jetta may get revised exterior lighting and a handful of interior updates, including larger touchscreens. We've also heard the manual transmission could be dropped.

The current Jetta debuted in 2019 and received its last significant refresh for the 2022 model year. Volkswagen's ID.Drive driver-assistance suite and automatic wipers became standard this year. We expect the Jetta's trim levels to continue, giving buyers access to a wide range of comfort and convenience features. The Jetta is known for its spacious five-passenger interior and fine efficiency for a gas-powered sedan.

2025 Volkswagen Jetta Engine & Specs

We expect the Jetta will retain its 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which sends 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. There's a chance the standard six-speed manual transmission will drop away, leaving all models with an eight-speed automatic. The Sport trim carries an electronically locking differential for improved handling.

With the automatic transmission, the Jetta is EPA-rated at 30 miles per gallon city, 41 mpg highway, and 34 combined. The Jetta remains one of the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid sedans on the market.

2025 Volkswagen Jetta Safety

The IQ.Drive system will certainly continue as standard on the Jetta. The bundle includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. Automatic high beams will probably be reversed for the line-topping SEL trim.

The current Jetta carries a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. However, IIHS gives the Jetta a "Poor" score in the institute's newly updated overlap frontal crash test. We'll report 2025 findings from both agencies as they become available.

2025 Volkswagen Jetta Price

If the manual transmission is dropped, we expect the 2025 Jetta's base price to rise by about $800, plus the usual annual increase. The Jetta's MSRP currently starts at $22,585 including destination and climbs to $29,975 for the fully equipped SEL.

The Jetta competes with other compact sedans like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mazda Mazda3, and Hyundai Elantra.

2025 Volkswagen Jetta Release Date

Based on the Jetta's typical production schedule, we expect the 2025 model to arrive at dealers in November 2024. We'll report back with more details on the upcoming Jetta closer to the release date.
