What To Expect

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will likely arrive with a total redesign, marking a new generation of full-size trucks from Chevrolet. According to Automotive News, the next Silverado 1500 will debut in 2026, possibly as a 2027 model.

The upcoming Silverado 1500 will probably retain its current configurations and a broad array of equipment and trim choices. Buyers will have a choice of Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab body styles, and three bed lengths: the 5.8-foot short bed, 6.6-foot standard bed, and 8-foot long bed. The Silverado can seat up to six. The lineup includes the utilitarian WT trim, popularly equipped LT, luxurious High Country, and off-road-ready ZR2.

2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Engine & Specs

Chevrolet could very well offer a hybrid powerplant on the Silverado 1500 for the first time. Plug-in technology is also a strong possibility. An all-electric powerplant could also debut on the next-generation Silverado at some point.

The current gas engines will likely carry over with possible modifications to increase efficiency and pulling power. At present, the standard engine for most trims is a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The 2.7-liter can tow up to 9,500 pounds.

Towing capacity rises to 11,500 pounds with the available 5.3-liter V8, which develops 355 hp and 383 lb-ft. Buyers can opt for a larger 6.2-liter V8 good for 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. Chevy also offers a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel with 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. When equipped with the turbodiesel or 6.2-liter, the Silverado 1500 is rated to tow up to 13,300 pounds.

Four-wheel drive is standard on the Trailboss and ZR2, and optional on all other trims. The Silverado's 10-speed automatic transmission will likely continue for 2026.

2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Safety

Every Silverado 1500 currently comes with lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, and automatic emergency braking. Popular options include blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, reverse automatic braking, surround-view cameras, and adaptive cruise control.

We expect some of these items to be standard on the next generation. Move advanced features will probably remain optional, including a head-up display, a rearview camera mirror, a bed camera, and GM's Supercruise hands-free highway driving system.

2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Price

If the 2026 Silverado 1500 is a total redesign, we anticipate a moderate price increase. The Silverado 1500's MSRP currently starts at $38,695 including destination and climbs to $71,795 for the ZR2 before options.

The 2025 Silverado 1500 will compete with other regular-duty full-size pickups like the Ford F-150, RAM 1500, Nissan Titan, and Toyota Tundra.

2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Release Date

The anticipated redesign will likely push the 2026 Silverado's arrival to early 2026. If it lands later, the next-generation Silverado will likely arrive as a 2027 model.

This page will be updated with further details on the upcoming Silverado 1500 as they become available.
