What To Expect

The Honda CR-V crossover is expected to see its next full redesign sometime in 2027. That's according to an early report from Automotive News, though we think that this is largely an estimate based on a typical 4 to 5-year model update cycle. Honda has not yet announced the next-gen CR-V or what it may entail.

The current Honda CR-V generation was introduced for 2023 and brought a greater emphasis on hybrid technology. There are now fewer variations of the Honda CR-V with the regular gas engine. In contrast, the Honda CR-V Hybrid has a sportier look and benefits from a roughly 10-mpg advantage in fuel economy.

Will the redesigned Honda CR-V go hybrid-only? That's unclear. Honda is already on a path to electrification, whether it's with cars that are fully electric or hybrid-powered. For 2025, the first-ever Honda CR-V Fuel Cell EV promises faster fueling than a battery-electric vehicle by using hydrogen instead.

We'll have to wait for more information to become available. Honda CR-V redesign spy shots haven't been spotted yet, though we think it's likely that things may begin to take shape sometime in 2026. For now, we suggest taking early claims of a 2027 Honda CR-V redesign with a grain of salt until we know more.
