Model Preview

The Honda Ridgeline offers a unique blend of the practicality of a pickup truck and the drivability of a car. The unconventional pickup continues to see demand but is starting to show its age, as it began production in 2017. To keep it competitive, Honda is reportedly planning both a refresh and a redesign in the coming years, with the all-new Ridgeline said to arrive in 2027 for the 2028 model year. Reports are still unconfirmed, but here's what we know about the next-generation 2028 Honda Ridgeline so far.

Details on the 2028 Ridgeline's design are still scarce. According to Automotive News, the Ridgeline is due for a redesign in 2027 for the 2028 model year. Nothing is certain at this juncture, but AN hypothesizes that the Ridgeline may grow in size in its next generation, as there's speculation of it moving to the larger platform currently shared by the Pilot and the Acura MDX. If that's in fact the case, expect the 2028 Ridgeline to share styling clues with the pilot, save for the truck bed.

We're a long ways away from official details on the 2028 Ridgeline's interior, but it would share several components with the Pilot if they do end up sharing a platform. The current Pilot features a rugged cabin design with plentiful storage spaces. A 7" infotainment touchscreen is paired with a 7" digital gauge cluster on lower-trim models, while higher trims feature an upgraded 9" touchscreen.

If the 2028 Ridgeline rides on the Pilot platform, we expect them to share a powertrain. The current Pilot already shares an engine with the Ridgeline, although the iteration in the SUV develops five more horsepower. The 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 makes 285 hp in the Pilot and 280 in the Ridgeline. We wouldn't be surprised if the Ridgeline gets some form or electrification or forced induction down the line.

Unsurprisingly, Honda hasn't announced a release date for a model due so far in the future. Pricing also remains a mystery, but 2023 Ridgeline pricing starts at $40,175 for the Sport trim and ranges up to $47,605 for the Black Edition.

The 2028 Honda Ridgeline will compete with the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Nissan Frontier, and the Jeep Gladiator.
