2028 Jeep Wrangler Preview Redesign Info & Release Date

Stellantis has made a tentative agreement with the UAW. The agreement will see the current generation of the Wrangler carry into the 2028 model year. A new generation of the Wrangler is expected to arrive for 2028. Details on the 2028 Jeep Wrangler are scarce, but here’s what we expect to see.

The 2028 Jeep Wrangler Preview should arrive with an updated design. This is still the Wrangler we’re talking about here, so we expect the compact SUV to have a boxy design, a seven-slot grille, round headlights, and square taillights. With the Wrangler being an SUV that’s meant to go off-roading, the SUV is also expected to have large off-road tires with a spare on the liftgate, oversized fenders, rugged bumpers, and removable body panels. Based on the changes that Jeep made to the current generation, we don’t expect to see a dramatic overhaul in the 2028 Wrangler’s design.

Just like the exterior, we don’t expect Jeep to completely overhaul the 2028 Wrangler’s interior design with the next-gen model. The current model has a utilitarian, yet stylish cabin with a simple dashboard, easy-to-clean materials, and a host of physical controls. Because of the SUV’s boxy design, headroom is generous, while the driver has a clear view out of the vehicle. Jeep offers the current Wrangler in both two-door and four-door configurations, which we expect to be available for 2028.

2028 Jeep Wrangler Engine & Specs

At the moment, all we know is that the 2028 Jeep Wrangler will be available with all-electric and a “REPB” powertrain, which is what RAM uses to describe the plug-in hybrid powertrain in the new 1500 Ramcharger. It looks like Jeep will offer the 2028 Wrangler with a plug-in hybrid engine that has a gasoline engine that powers a generator, which in turn powers the electric motors. In a sense, the PHEV powertrain will make the Wrangler a long-range EV, since the gas engine isn’t being used to power the wheels.

Based on the agreement, it doesn’t look like the 2028 Wrangler will be available with a gas-powered engine.

2028 Jeep Wrangler Safety

We expect the 2028 Jeep Wrangler to be available with more standard safety features than the current model that’s on sale. The current Wrangler only comes with a rearview camera as standard.

2028 Jeep Wrangler Price

Jeep hasn’t confirmed pricing for the 2028 Wrangler yet. We should get information on pricing closer to the SUV’s on-sale date. Since that’s a few years away, we don’t expect to get pricing on the vehicle for quite some time.

2028 Jeep Wrangler Release Date

All we know is that the next-gen Wrangler is coming in 2028. The SUV could be a 2028 or a 2029 model. More information on the 2028 Jeep Wrangler should become available over the next few years.
