The Acura ZDX crossover SUV first debuted as a concept car in March of 2009 and debuted as a production model in the 2010 model year. The Acura ZDX provides buyers the roominess of an SUV and the styling and handling of an Acura sedan. For the 2013 model year, the ZDX comes in with some mild changes.

The minor changes for the 2013 ZDX include a slightly revised front grille, standard front and rear parking sensors, power folding mirrors and a slew of new safety components. The 2013 ZDX only comes in one model and this Base trim level comes standard with a 3.7-liter V-6 engine that produces 300 horsepower and 270 foot-pounds of torque. This transmission links to a SportShift six-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel-drive system. This system nets the ZDX 16 mpg city, 23 mpg highway and 19 mpg combined.

The ZDX relies heavily on optional packages to give its customers some choices, given there is just one trim level. the first optional package it the Protection Package I, which includes all-season floor mats, a cargo tray and a set of wheel locks. Next up is the Protection Package II, which includes rear-wheel splash guards, a cargo tray for the rear cargo area and a set of wheel locks. Lastly, there is the Towing Package, which includes a Class I trailering hitch with either a 1-7/8- or 2-inch ball to allow the ZDX to tow up to 1,500 pounds.

The competition for the ZDX is limited but very intense. Its main competitor is the 2013 BMW X6 xDrive35i, which comes with a 3.0-liter engine with 300 horsepower and 2 3mpg highway, eight-speed automatic transmission, and leather upholstery. Next up i s the 2013 Cadillac SR, which features a 3.6-liter V-6 engine with 308 horsepower and 24 mpg highway, standard front-wheel drive, faux leather interior. You can also consider the 2013 INFINITI FX37, which comes with a 3.7-liter V-6 engine with 325 horsepower and 24 mpg highway, rear-wheel drive and leather seating.

With the young age of the ZDX and its fierce competition, Acura needs to step up and provide features that make its crossover stand out from the crowd.
