The Audi Q4 e-tron may be an EV but it isn't eligible for a federal tax credit based on current IRS guidelines. That's because the Inflation Reduction Act implemented changes that favor electric vehicles assembled in North America.

However, that doesn't mean you can't get a deal. A loophole enables Audi to claim a commercial tax credit on leases, and the company is offering a $7,500 lease credit when the Q4 e-tron is leased.

The Audi Q4 e-tron may be better to lease than to buy because the automaker is taking advantage of a commercial tax credit to help lower lease prices.

As a result, you may find that the Q4 has as much as a $7,500 discount for leasing and no such incentive for buying. Check with your dealer for the latest offers.

Audi Q4 EV Rebates

The Audi Q4 e-tron may qualify for EV rebates depending on where you live.

In California, the Clean Vehicle Rebate offers a $2,000 plug-in incentive after buying or leasing your vehicle. There are income limits, so be sure to read the fine print carefully.

The Golden State also offers a Clean Fuel Reward, though funding issues caused the program to temporarily reduce the upfront discount to $0. There is no ETA on when the Clean Fuel Reward will come back.
