More standard equipment jumps the Discovery’s price over the outgoing model.

The 2018 Land Rover Discovery is getting more standard equipment and a $1,000 price hike for its second year on the market. The new starting price for the Discovery SE is $52,090 (all prices exclude the $995 destination and handling charges).

A 10-inch touchscreen and Land Rover's InControl Touch Pro infotainment system is now standardNow standard across the entire Discovery lineup. Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection is also now standard across all Discovery models. The system can detect adult and child pedestrians, and other vehicles in the road, and assist in reducing braking up to speeds of 37 mph. The HSE and HSE Luxury trims receive a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as standard equipment.

Options include 4G wifi hotspots across all models while HSE and HSE Luxury trims have a second-generation head-up display as an option. The HUD has 2.5 times more display space than its predecessor.

Exterior changes include the addition of the new Byron Blue color to the palette. Vehicles equipped with the Dynamic or Black Packs can now option a body-colored roof for either of these packs at no cost in addition to the previously standard Corris Grey or Narvik Black contrasting roofs.

Land Rover is also expanding available drivetrains for the SE trim for 2018, adding the 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine, which was exclusive for the HSE and HSE Luxury trims for 2017. The diesel makes 254 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque while working alongside a ZF eight-speed automatic. This more efficient option adds a reasonable $2,000 to the Disco's price tag.

Pricing for the 2018 Discovery starts with the SE trim at $52,090. The next trim up, the HSE, starts at $58,490. The top-of-the-line HSE Luxury starts at $65,490. The 2018 Land Rover Discovery goes on sale early next year.
