BMW has let some more of the 2019 Z4's specs out of the bag. While we got some information on the 2019 BMW Z4 M40i First Edition model earlier this August, the automaker has shared some information for the base sDrive30i roadster.

Power for the Z4 sDrive30i roadster comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission with drive going to the rear wheels. As we'd previously learned, the Z4 M40i gets a power-enhanced version of BMW's 3.0-liter inline-six that makes 382 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.

With a soft-top roof, the entry-level Z4 tips the scale at just 3,287 pounds, helping the roadster get to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds. The more powerful and athletic M40i model takes 4.4 seconds to make the sprint.

While the M40i trim gets larger brakes, an M-tuned sports suspension with electronically adjustable dampers, and a unique rear differential as standard, the sDrive30i can be fitted with those features as options. The base roadster comes with 18-inch wheels as standard, but 19-inch wheels are also available.

Moving away from the sporty aspect of the Z4 for a second, the roadster can also be fitted with the latest safety features. Forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and BMW's City Braking system are standard for the sDrive30i. Available equipment includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, traffic sign recognition, a lane change warning system, rear collision prevention with rear cross-traffic alert, active park distance control, a rearview camera, a parking assistant, and a head-up display.

Look for the Z4 sDrive30i to go on sale in March 2019. The M40i is expected to follow closely behind, as it goes on sale in the second quarter of next year. Pricing for the roadster hasn't been announced yet.
