Ford bestows its Platinum moniker to some of its high-end SUVs and pickup trucks. The last iteration of the Ford Edge wasn’t offered in a Platinum trim and while the automaker hasn’t announced that the new Edge would be going Platinum, it did announce a new luxury level for the SUV – the Titanium Elite. The new trim sits between the sporty ST and the Titanium and will debut this week at the Chicago Auto Show.
The Titanium Elite trim will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generating 250 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels as standard, while an all-wheel-drive option will be available. The trim is essentially an appearance package for the SUV. It brings 20-inch wheels, a premium rear skid plate, and full-body color sides. The extra features are in addition to all of the standard equipment found on the Titanium trim.
Ford might not be quite ready to offer a Platinum trim on the 2019 Edge at the moment, but the Titanium Elite trim is a good way to test the waters for a high-end version of the SUV.
Pricing for the new trim – or any one of the other Edge’s trims for that matter – hasn’t been announced yet, but it should be more in line with the Titanium trim than the range-topping ST.
