Fans of smartphone integration in automobiles should be happy to learn Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are coming to the 2019 Mazda CX-9. This gives owners another infotainment option. Smartphone integration comes along with optional cooled front seats and a surround-view camera system.
Customers wanting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have to pay $36,325 (all prices include the $995 destination charge) for an adequately equipped CX-9 Touring model. Both smartphone integration systems are available on the Touring, Grand Touring, and Signature trims. They aren't on available on the base Sport, which starts at $33,275.
Compared to other three-row crossovers, the 2019 CX-9 is the most expensive out of models that offer the technology. The Chevrolet Traverse offers both CarPlay and Auto as standard equipment across trims, starting at $30,875. The Ford Explorer forces customers to add a $2,330 Technology Package. However, the Explorer with the package starts at $35,370. Consumers looking at the Honda Pilot will have to buy the EX trim or higher if they want Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The Pilot EX starts at $35,325. The Toyota Highlander does not offer either system. Then again, Toyota doesn’t offer either on any of its models. However, CarPlay will be available on the 2019 Corolla.
The 2019 Mazda CX-9 arrives at dealerships in September.
