Kia is going all-in with its special editions for the 2021 model year. Early order guides show that the 2021 Kia Sportage is the next vehicle that will be gaining a Nightfall Edition Package. Much like the package launched on the 2021 Telluride, the Kia Sportage Nightfall Edition will focus on purely aesthetic changes.

The 2021 Sportage Nightfall Edition will start at $28,210 with destination, adding $1,500 to the price of a standard Sportage S ($27,610). The Nightfall Premium will run you an additional $2,000 for an MSRP of $30,210. All-wheel-drive is available for an extra $1,500 on the Nightfall and $1,800 on the Nightfall Premium.

Like most packages, the Sportage will see most of its changes on the exterior of the vehicle. Piano black will be a prominent theme with the front and rear skid plates and bumper garnishes, fog lights, and side moldings covered in the shiny (and easily scratched) finish. Badges will come covered in black, with the front grille sporting a glossy dark gray. A panoramic sunroof and solar glass will also be included.

Moving up to the Nightfall Premium adds unique 18” wheels to the exterior along with some niceties on the inside such as a leather shift knob and glossy center fascia. Tech will also be upgraded with the addition of wireless charging, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, smart key, and more.

Even with the Nightfall package, the Sportage will continue on with its 2.4-liter 4-cylinder motor available on the S trim. This engine comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with output rated at 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque for both front- and all-wheel drive.

The Nightfall package helps the Sportage remain competitive in the market as it fits into a growing trend of black edition offerings among major automakers. For example, Nissan offers Midnight Editions and Toyota plans on offering its Nightshade Edition to at least 10 models by the end of the year. Similarly, Hyundai used to offer a Night Edition of the Tucson and will soon add one to the 2021 Kona.
