Apparently the 65th anniversary is the carbon fiber anniversary.
That must be why the Chevrolet Corvette's celebration as a 65-year-old automotive icon comes in the form of the 2018 Carbon 65 edition. Debuting this week at the New York Auto Show, the package is available on the Grand Sport 3LT and Z06 3LZ models, and will include a number of distinctive trim enhancements and consist of a limited 650-car run.
The Carbon 65 package includes special exterior stripes and decals, new ground effects kit, black wheels with blue brake calipers, a carbon fiber spoiler, and black leather sports seats with blue stitching, among other design tweaks. All cars will be painted Ceramic Matrix Gray and convertibles will have a blue fabric top. Expect to pay a $15,000 premium over the standard Z06 and Grand Sport.
All 2018 Corvettes get a handful of changes that include standard HD radio, new exterior and interior colors, and improved rear-view camera and head-up display resolutions. The newly available Performance Data Recorder can measure individual wheel speeds, suspension displacements, yaw rate and intake, and outside air temperatures, according to Chevrolet. It's for the track enthusiasts who want all the information possible.
The 2018 Corvettes go on sale in summer.
