The rollout of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay has been slower than expected as manufacturers have been adding the new apps model by model instead of in bulk, as initially expected. Ford has lagged behind in this department as it had zero models with these technologies as of the 2016 model year, but this is set to change in 2017, according to an Automotive News report.

Ford will add Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to all of its 2017 models with the new Sync 3 system that replaced the maligned MyFord Touch system. This takes Ford from the bottom of the list for adoption of these two systems to the second-largest adopter of them. Only General Motors, which has 32 models equipped with these systems, tops Ford’s 22 upcoming nameplates with these apps installed.

In addition to being the second-highest adopter of these systems, Ford will also become the fastest to adopt these systems across its lineup.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are touted as making life easier for drivers by giving them immediate access to items on their phone without having to look at the device and more up-to-date navigation maps. What’s more, the fact that these systems eliminate the desire to look at one’s phone while driving can make the roads a safer place.

If you can look past their lack of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, there are lots of great deals for the taking on 2016 Ford models. One of the best deals is the 36-month lease on the 2016 Ford Focus Electric, which runs $199 per month with $1,999 due at signing. In addition to this great deal, there is $3,450 in rebates for those financing through Ford and $1,750 in lease bonus cash, making the Focus Electric a steal for those with a short daily commute.
