2024 Land Rover Range Rover

For decades, the Land Rover Range Rover has been seen as the preeminent luxury vehicle for shoppers wanting a high-end SUV that’s capable of getting dirty. With the world entering the all-electric era, Land Rover’s flagship SUV is set to undertake a major evolutionary change with an all-new electric model. It looks like shoppers are interested in purchasing Land Rover’s first all-electric Range Rover, because the automaker already has a waitlist of over 38,000 people.

That’s the news from Electrek, which claims that Jaguar Land Rover shared how many people were on the waitlist for the upcoming electric Range Rover during the automaker’s Investor Day 2024. The latest figure of 38,000 shoppers represents a substantial increase since February, when Land Rover reportedly had 16,000 shoppers on the waitlist for the SUV. We’re sure Land Rover is happy with the new figure, as it reveals that shoppers are incredibly interested in the SUV.

Land Rover hasn’t shared a lot of information on the upcoming electric SUV, but that hasn’t stopped 38,000 people from putting their names on a waitlist for the EV. The all-electric Range Rover is expected to utilize an 800-volt architecture and the SUV’s battery and electric drive units will be assembled in-house at Jaguar Land Rover’s Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Britain. As one would expect, Land Rover wants the electric Range Rover to offer the same premium experience and off-roading capability as the gas-powered and electrified model. The automaker's engineers are targeting “the quietest and most refined Range Rover ever created.”

Last December, Land Rover put out a teaser for the all-electric Range Rover that showcased some of the SUV’s more unique features. Shoppers can expect the electric Range Rover to have the same overall design as the regular model, Land Rover certainly doesn’t want people to mistake the SUV for being anything other than a Range Rover. The SUV, though, will have special exterior lighting, wheels, and a unique grille.

The electric Range Rover is expected to make its official debut before the end of the year. When it arrives on sale, the electric SUV will compete against competitors like the GMC Hummer EV SUV, Porsche Macan, Jeep Wagoneer S, and Mercedes-Benz G-Class EV.
