Honda kicked off its TrailSport line of rugged off-roaders with the Passport earlier this September. While Honda provided information on what kind of features the Passport TrailSport would come with and its off-roading capability, the automaker waited until now to announce pricing for the SUV. The TrailSport becomes the mid-level Passport, sitting above the EX-L, but below the Elite with a starting price tag of $43,695 with destination for the 2022 model year. That makes the TrailSport $4,600 more than the front-wheel-drive EX-L trim.

Compared to the rest of the 2022 Passport lineup, the TrailSport has a bespoke grille, heavy-duty skid plates, and more aggressive front and rear bumpers. You’ll also find special 18-inch wheels and orange exterior badges on the outside. The interior of the Transport trim features ambient interior lighting, orange contrast stitching, and special logos.

When it comes to features, the TrailSport has an eight-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, navigation, tri-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated front seats, LED exterior lighting, a moonroof, LED fog lights, and roof rails. Compared to the entry-level EX-L, the TrailSport comes with nearly the same features but adds a few unique touches.

To be the most off-roading-ready Passport in the lineup, the TrailSport comes with standard torque-vectoring all-wheel drive, a 10 mm increase in track width, and Honda’s Intelligent Traction Management System. Honda hasn’t updated the TrailSport’s suspension, so the SUV continues to have 8.1 inches of ground clearance. The 3.5-liter V6 engine also remains the same.

Honda also offers the Pilot in a TrailSport trim. For the Pilot, the trim starts at $44,785, or $1,090 more than the Passport TrailSport. The Pilot TrailSport comes with a lot of the same features as the Passport TrailSport, but has three rows of seating.

The Passport TrailSport won’t appeal to consumers searching for a Jeep Wrangler or Ford Bronco replacement. Instead, the Passport TrailSport is more for consumers looking to do some light off-roading. The SUV is a competitor to the Toyota RAV4 Adventure and Subaru Forester Sport. While smaller in size, they offer similar updates and off-roading capability. The RAV4 Adventure costs $34,670, while the Forester Sport starts at $30,890.
