Ford has cut Bronco Sport prices by almost $2,000 on some trims. According to a bulletin sent to dealers, the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport price cuts bring the SUV's base price below $30,000. Based on our analysis, the lower 2024 Bronco Sport prices could help make the model more competitive in a crowded segment.

On April 2nd, most 2024 Bronco Sports got a price cut. At the entry-level, the Big Bend now has an MSRP of $29,795 excluding freight. That's $1,435 less than the previous price of $31,230. Similarly, the retro Heritage and Free Wheeling are $1,335 cheaper than before and now start at $32,365 and $32,395, respectively.

The Outer Banks trim benefits from the biggest price cut of the bunch at $1,980. It now starts at $33,935, down from $35,915. For vehicles already shipped to its dealers, Ford says it will re-invoice them and issue new window stickers this week. The Bronco Sport MSRP Pricing Action brings its base price under $30k.

Curiously, the range-topping Badlands trim isn't listed in Ford's letter and still has a list price of $38,390, With the changes, there's now a nearly $4,500 difference in price between the Outer Banks and the Badlands trims. This could leave a bad taste in the mouths of those looking to buy the most expensive Bronco Sport.

But is a $2,000 price cut really going to spur more sales of the Bronco Sport? After all, Ford heavily discounted the 2023 Bronco Sport amid an extended selldown. Late last year, we found incentives worth up to $4,500 off MSRP. As a result, we wonder if Ford decided to opt for lower MSRPs instead of using big rebates.

According to our records, 2024 Bronco Sport prices originally went up by $2,000 back in July 2023 after the base trim was discontinued. At the time, this caused the model's starting price to hit $32,825 including destination. When the small SUV was first introduced, the Bronco Sport had dealer markups of up to $10,000.

At $29,795, the cheapest Bronco Sport is now just $300 more than a 2024 Ford Escape. It's also just $295 more than a 2024 Honda CR-V, though the 2024 Toyota RAV4 will continue to undercut it on paper at $28,675. Still, we think the Bronco Sport's lower price could help make it an appealing alternative for some buyers.
