Honda is making it slightly more affordable to add off-road flair to its sole pickup truck. According to order guide data, 2024 Honda Ridgelines now feature Sport+ and RTL+ trims that enable buyers to add all-terrain tires and HPD wheels for lower price points than they were able to previously. Here's what to expect.

The 2024 Honda Ridgeline Sport+ is $1,900 more than the Sport trim and adds 18-inch HPD wheels and all-terrain tires. It's priced at $43,045 with destination compared to $41,145 for the base Sport. The RTL+ adds the same features and has an MSRP of $45,875, $1,900 more than the $43,975 MSRP of the RTL.

Before the addition of the Ridgeline Sport+ and RTL+, shoppers had to add the $2,300 HPD Package or $3,100 HPD+ Package to get these types of features. Somewhat confusingly, the HPD Package remains available on the Sport but adds an HPD front grille. The HPD+ adds fender flares and an oil pan protector.

A Honda spokesperson confirmed for CarsDirect that the Sport+ and RTL+ "denote a HPD tire and wheel package selected in the ordering process that was installed on the factory line as opposed to post production or at the dealer." In addition to factory options, cars can offer port-installed and dealer-installed options.

HPD stands for Honda Performance Development and is the brand's racing division. While it's not nearly as elaborate as TRD versions of the popular Toyota Tacoma, the Ridgeline is now available with more versions than before. The most notable addition was the Ridgeline TrailSport trim for the 2024 model year.

But did Honda really need to add two more trims just to save buyers $400? That's unclear. For now, Honda Ridgeline buyers have some additional choices that could help save them some money when configuring their new truck.
