2024 Lucid Air

Ever since coming out with the Lucid Air, the all-electric startup has struggled to get shoppers to purchase its flagship sedan. Lucid thinks pricing may be an issue, as it has reduced the Air’s starting price tag by $7,500. With the price cut, the base Air Pure RWD model now costs $69,900 (prices don’t include destination).

The 2024 Air Pure’s price cut represents a dramatic decrease in the electric sedan’s starting price tag. Previously, the Air Pure used to start at $77,400. Even before Lucid’s latest price cuts, the Air was one of the more affordable options in the large sedan segment. Now, the Lucid Air has become even more affordable.

With a starting price tag of $69,900, the Air costs less than the Audi e-tron GT ($106,500), Tesla Model S ($74,990), Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan ($104,400), BMW i7 ($105,700), and Porsche Taycan ($99,400). Shoppers who have been on the fence about purchasing the Lucid Air now have a great reason to go with the startup – it undercuts the competition by a wide margin.

For $69,900, shoppers get the Air Pure RWD model, which comes with a single electric motor on the rear wheels that has 430 horsepower. The electric motor helps the sedan get to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. The Pure comes with a 92-kWh battery pack that brings a range of up to 419 miles on a single charge. Those are competitive figures for the class with the Air Pure’s 419-mile range being one of the higher figures of any EV on sale.

In addition to cutting prices for the Pure trim, Lucid has also slashed prices for the Touring trim. The Air Touring now costs $77,900, down from its previous starting price tag of $85,900. The Touring represents a large jump in performance. It comes with dual electric motors that are rated at up to 620 hp, can get to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, and has a range of 411 miles.

Even the Air Grand Touring trim gets a price cut, though it’s a slight one. The Grand Touring trim now costs $109,900, down $1,000 from $110,900. The Grand Touring is a high-performance trim with 819 hp and a zero-to-60 mph time of three seconds. Lucid does not have a range figure for the trim.

In addition to the noteworthy price cuts, Lucid has also announced that every Air buyer will get $1,000 toward the purchase of a Lucid charging accessory. Currently, the only charging solution that Lucid offers is the Lucid Connected Home Charging Station which costs $1,200. With the $1,000 allowance, the system will cost shoppers $200.

The price cuts and the $1,000 allowance are on top of Lucid’s two-year, 24,000-mile maintenance program. It includes free scheduled maintenance with the Air to further sweeten the deal.

It seems like Lucid is really trying to do everything it can to get shoppers to purchase the Air sedan. Compared to other automakers that are raising prices – the refreshed 2025 Porsche Taycan comes to mind – Lucid is consistently cutting pricing for the Air. This latest price cut marks the third price drop in seven months. Whether the price cuts improve Lucid’s sales figures remains to be seen.
