2025 Kia K5

While the focus may be on the all-new compact Kia K4, which is set to arrive before the end of 2024, Kia has made some changes to the current K5 midsize sedan to ensure it doesn’t go unnoticed. The changes that Kia has made to the 2025 K5 have seen the sedan’s price tag go up by as much as $5,000.

Now, pricing for the 2025 K5 starts at $26,990 (prices don’t include destination) for the LXS trim, which represents an increase of $1,400 from 2024. The GT-Line carries a starting price tag of $27,990, which is a more modest $900 increase from 2024. The EX trim sees the largest price increase of $5,000, as it goes from $29,490 to $34,490. The GT trim now costs $33,090, representing a price increase of $1,100.

Kia spokesperson James Hope confirmed the 2025 K5’s pricing with us via email.

For 2025, the Kia K5 arrives with some noteworthy updates. The midsize sedan receives new headlights and taillights, a new interior design, a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen, standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine as standard. The changes certainly justify the $1,400 increase for the base LXS trim. The $5,000 increase for the EX may seem high for some shoppers.

Kia claims that the changes for the 2025 K5 mainly focus on the EX trim, which the automaker states is the “popular” choice. For 2025, the K5 EX trim gains a host of extra new features that make it more upscale than before. It gains a standard Bose audio system, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with two-way lumbar support, integrated LED turn signals, power-folding exterior mirrors, a heated steering wheel, and Kia’s Digital Key 2.0 system.

In Kia's defense, the automaker has added a lot more standard equipment to the EX trim to make it more appealing, but a $5,000 increase is steep. We're sure the K5 EX offers good value compared to similarly equipped competitors, so comparing the K5 EX to other rivals may make the $5,000 increase easier to swallow.

With the price increase to $26,990, the 2025 K5 slots in the middle of the midsize segment. It costs more than the Toyota Camry ($26,420), Subaru Legacy ($24,895), and Nissan Altima ($26,000), but less than the Hyundai Sonata ($27,500) and the Honda Accord ($27,895). The 2025 Kia K5 should arrive at dealerships in the second quarter of 2024.
