After closing order books for quite a few models throughout the first half of the year, Ford is now ready to begin accepting orders for key 2023 models. The automaker announced that it will re-open retail order banks for the Edge, Bronco Sport, Ranger, and Explorer on August 2. The Maverick and the recently introduced Maverick Tremor will become available to be ordered in September. Order books for the 2023 F-150 and Transit opened in July.
As Ford points out, most of these vehicles will be available to purchase at dealerships. The whole point of ordering a vehicle directly from the automaker is to get one that has exactly what you want – exterior color, tech features, and optional extras. During this wonky year of insane markups, ordering a car is also a good way to avoid a dealer markup, too.
One highly sought-after Ford that’s not orderable yet is the 2023 Mustang Mach-E. Rumors claimed that Ford would open its order books for the all-electric crossover on August 15, but the automaker hasn’t confirmed that yet and after seeing the recent announcement where it clearly lays out when other vehicles can be ordered, it’s difficult to say when consumers will be able to order a Mach-E.
Ford closed its order books on quite a few vehicles earlier this year. Orders for the 2022 Mach-E were stopped in March, the Super Duty, Ranger, and Expedition couldn’t be ordered after April, and orders for the F-150 came to an end in May. The Maverick has been such a hit, that Ford stopped accepting orders for the 2022 model year in January.
Speaking of the Maverick, Ford has introduced a new Tremor off-road package for its smallest pickup. While the Maverick is the smallest truck in Ford’s lineup, it now matches the Ranger, F-150, and Super Duty with its newly available Tremor package. For consumers looking to take their Maverick off-road, the new Tremor package should make the truck more capable.
The Tremor is available on the XLT and Lariat trims that are equipped with the optional turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The Tremor package builds upon the FX4 Off-Road Package with a new all-wheel-drive system with a twin-clutch rear-drive unit, a lockin differential, five selectable drive modes, and Ford’s Trail Control system. The truck’s springs, shocks, half-shafts, and transmission cooler have been upgraded. The changes result in a one-inch lift.
On the design front, the Maverick Tremor comes with a unique grille, black Ford badges, and dark exterior lights. At the front, the truck has two orange tow hooks, while skid plates, 17-inch wheels with orange accents, and all-terrain tires are also included. The interior features Black Onyx seats with Tremor logos and Tremor Orange accents. The Maverick will also be available with the Tremor Appearance Package that adds a Carbonized Gray roof and mirror caps, along with black graphics on the hood and lower part of the body.
The Tremor Off-Road Package is priced at $2,995 for the 2023 Maverick, while the Tremor Appearance Package costs $1,495. Consumers can order the package starting in September. Production of the 2023 Maverick is expected to begin this fall.
