Honda quietly raised prices this week on nearly every 2022 vehicle in its lineup. According to bulletins sent to dealers, the changes took effect Tuesday on at least 8 different models. Based on our analysis, the price increases range from $450 to $750 and affect some of the brand's most affordable cars. Here's what we found.
January 2022 Honda Price Increases
Honda Civic. Base pricing increased by $450. The 2022 Civic LX sedan now starts at $23,635 with destination.
Honda Insight. Now starts at $26,775, an increase of $550.
Honda Accord. Starting price increased $650 from $26,485 to $27,135.
Honda HR-V. $450 price hike from $22,645 to $23,095.
Honda CR-V. Now starts at $27,625, a $650 price increase compared to the previous MSRP of $26,975.
Honda Pilot. $750 price increase from $38,055 to $38,805.
Honda Ridgeline. $750 price hike from $38,115 to $38,865.
Honda Odyssey. $750 price increase from $33,515 to $34,265.
Nearly every Honda is affected. Even all-new vehicles like the 2022 Pilot TrailSport are more expensive. Curiously, the 2022 Passport appears to have escaped this round of price hikes. Further analysis finds that Acura raised prices too on some of its bestselling vehicles. Just last month, Ford raised prices on the flagship F-150.
Price increases aren't unusual this time of year, but shoppers may not be happy about having to pay even more for their favorite Honda. New car prices remain high due in large part to an inventory shortage. Sadly, there appears to be no relief in sight for those looking to get a deal when replacing an existing car or truck.
A year ago, Honda introduced an unprecedented 0% APR deal. Now, the 5-year interest rate on many new Hondas is 2.9%. The difference in rate could add $3,000 to the cost of a $40,000 vehicle. Combined with the likelihood of dealer markups due to scarcity, 2022 is starting off as a far worse time to buy a Honda.
