Major Hot Rod Car Shows and Events

January 27, 2012

A hot rod car show is a great place to view custom cars and muscle cars. These hot rod events can be found all over the country. Hot rod cars are typically American cars that contain larger engines different than they were originally manufactured. These larger engines are used to get even better performance. There is an entire culture built around hot rods. Even if you do not own a hot rod, you can spend a great day out looking at the vehicles and enjoying the energy of the show.

  • Hot Rod Super Nationals: This occurs in Lincoln, Nebraska and is a great weekend for those that love hot rods. You can view all different makes and models of hot rods. You can see more than 1,500 hot rods, 2-wheel drive trucks, and street machines. You can buy a hot rod at the performance marketplace, enjoy the Family Fun Zone, and the Miss Hot Rod Super Nationals competition.
  • Hot Rod and Restoration Car Show: This is a very popular hot rod auto show that tends to be for the business side of the industry. This is the premier show of all hot rod events, as it is exclusively for the restoration market, muscle cars, street rods, and hot rods. This show is the main introduction of emerging trends, new product debuts, and a great gathering for those within the hot rod industry.
  • Annual Street Rods Nationals: This event occurs in Kentucky each year, and is hosted by the National Street Rod Association. You can enter your vehicle as long as it is a 1980 model or earlier. This show goes on tour across the country, as there are shows in mid-America, the Rocky Mountains, Eastern US, Northeast, Golden State, South, Southeast, West, and more.
  • Grand National Roadster Show: This hot rod show is a non-for-profit show that donates its process to a different cause or charity each year. There is a theme with the 2011 show in January, being Mardi Gras. This is one of the oldest indoor hot rod shows held in Pomona. There are hundreds of show vehicles, an awards ceremony, and live music. There are also celebrity guests throughout the event.
  • SEMA Show: The SEMA show is an auto show that has plenty of vehicles but there is also a hot rod section. This is held at the Las Vegas Convention Center and is one of the biggest auto shows in the US. The place to find hot rods are at the hot rod alley and the restoration marketplace. This show brings together enthusiasts and the leaders in the automotive industry.
  • Winternationals: You will find the most interesting hot rods at this show. There is a Pro racers area, Sportsman trailer, racing, old cars, and hot rods from all different eras. There are older racers that you can speak with, who sign autographs. This show tends to focus on past cars rather than the souped up versions and muscle cars that people prefer today. This event changes locations every year, but is a great place to see the beginning of the hot rod.
