BMW i4 Tax Credit

The BMW i4 is not eligible for a federal tax credit based on IRS guidelines. That's likely due to the Inflation Reduction Act and stricter domestic supply chain requirements.

However, a loophole can make the BMW i4 better to lease than to buy. That's because BMW can claim a commercial tax credit on i4 leases. The best part is that we're already seeing signs that BMW is passing along the savings to consumers in i4 lease prices.

BMW i4 Electric Car Rebates

The BMW i4 may qualify for electric car rebates depending on where you live. However, program rules can vary and the i4 may be excluded.

California's Clean Vehicle Rebate offers a $2,000 incentive on qualifying electric cars. However, a $45,000 MSRP cap excludes the BMW i4.

A separate incentive called the California Clean Fuel Reward doesn't have that limitation. Sadly, funding issues resulted in the rebate amount being reduced to $0.
