Choosing Your BMW i4
The BMW i4 comes in two trim levels, the eDrive40, and the high-performance M50. Pricing starts at $56,895 including destination and jumps to $68,295 for the M50. Buyers remain eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500 subject to income limits.
A new trim called the i4 eDrive35 will also be introduced in early 2023 featuring an MSRP of $52,395 and a range of 260 miles. This new base model represents a significant price cut compared to the i4 on sale now.
Engine Choices
The i4 eDrive 40 carries a single electric motor that delivers power to the rear wheels. The M50 gets a dual-motor setup that drives all four wheels. Both models use a single-speed automatic transmission.
According to BMW, the i4 gains 109 miles of range after just 10 minutes on a DC fast charging station.

Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The i4 is a coupe-styled four-door with seating for five and a rear liftgate. The trunk holds a modest 10 cubic feet, but folding the rear seat opens up 45.6 cubic feet, about the same as a conventional hatchback.
Safety Features
Every i4 comes equipped with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, and front and rear parking sensors. A head-up display is available for $1,100.
The M50 is eligible for a Driving Assistance Professional Package ($1,700) with lane-keeping assist, evasive steering aid, traffic jam assist, and front cross-traffic alert. Buyers can also select a $700 Parking Assistance Package with surround-view cameras and an automated parking system.
Connectivity
The i4 features an expansive 14.9-inch touchscreen, along with 10 speakers, HD and satellite radio, four USB ports, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation is also standard.
The available Harman Kardon system provides 16-speaker surround sound for $875. Wireless phone charging is a $200 standalone option.
2023 BMW i4 eDrive40 — MSRP From $56,895
The i4 starts out with SensaTec leatherette upholstery, eight-way power front sport seats, a sunroof, a power liftgate, automatic wipers, an adaptive suspension, a 12.3-inch instrument display, and 18-inch aerodynamic wheels. The $3,200 M Sport Package adds an aerodynamic body kit, an M steering wheel, and 19-inch M wheels. Note the larger wheels reduce the range to 282 miles.
The popular Premium Package ($950) brings heated front seats with driver lumbar adjustments, ambient interior lighting, and a heated steering wheel. Genuine leather upholstery can be added to the bundle for $1,500 extra.
Individual upgrades for the eDrive40 include ventilated front seats ($350), M Sport brakes ($650), and adaptive LED headlights with laser light ($1,000).
2023 BMW i4 M50 — MSRP From $68,295
The M50 packs the dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup, plus the M Sport Package and M Sport brakes as standard. The adaptive suspension is specially tuned for high performance. The Premium Packages increases to $1,700 here because it includes the head-up display.
The 2023 BMW i4 delivers impressive EV performance no matter how it's equipped. The M50 variant is downright exhilarating, though its reduced range and higher price make it a niche player.
