2023 F-150 Lightning in stock

The 2023 carryover F-150 Lightning remains available at dealers nationwide. The all-electric pickup promises impressive range and capability for about $40,000 to start.

The F-150 Lightning comes in two versions: the commercial-focused Lightning Pro and the regular Lightning available to everyone. Buyers are eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500, as well as various state and local EV incentives. However, Ford prohibits dealers from advertising the Lightning below MSRP. This has to do with its unique invoice price calculation. There's also a special Ford Plan Pricing discount for eligible buyers.

Current factory offers vary by region and are scheduled to end on July 5, 2023, unless otherwise noted. This page is updated monthly, so stay tuned for the latest pricing and promotions.

Introduction

What's New

After making its debut as an all-new vehicle last year, the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning will be arriving with minor changes. The largest change is pricing for the new model year, as the 2023 Lightning is up by $12,000 for the base trim. At the high end of the trim range, pricing for the Lightning has gone up by $6,000. Ford claims that the price changes are due to supply constraints and the rising costs of materials. Other minor changes for 2023 include a 240-mile range for the Standard Range Battery pack and the addition of Pro Trailer Hitch Assist as an option to make hitching trailers easier.

Choosing Your Ford F-150 Lightning

Ford offers the 2023 F-150 Lightning in four trims: Pro, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum. Pricing for the 2023 Lightning ranges from $53,769 to $98,669 (with destination).

As before the EV is eligible for a $7,500 tax credit as well as applicable state plug-in rebates.

Engine Choices

There are two available electric powertrains with the 2023 F-150 Lightning. The electric truck comes with two electric motors – one on each axle – for standard all-wheel drive. The base 98-kWh Standard Range Battery pack is good for 426 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque. For 2023, the electric pickup truck is now rated at 240 miles of range with the Standard Range Battery pack. The pickup truck is available with an Extended Range Battery pack that boosts power to 563 hp. With the 131-kWh Extended Range Battery, the F-150 Lightning can travel up to 320 miles.

The Pro trim is the only one that’s not available with the Extended Range Battery pack. The Extended Range Battery pack costs $21,500 on the XLT trim (after including the necessary packages) and $11,500 on the Lariat. The Platinum trim comes with the larger battery pack as standard.

When properly equipped with the Extended Range Battery pack, the F-150 Lightning can get up to 78 MPGe in the city, 63 MPGe on the highway, and 70 MPGe combined. Charge times for the 2023 Lightning vary depending on the battery pack and the amount of charge that’s left in the battery. Ford claims that the electric pickup can charge from 15% to 80% in 44 minutes when plugged into a DC fast charger. With a Level 2 charger, like Ford’s Charge Station Pro, the truck can go from 15% to 100% in as little as eight hours.

Passenger and Cargo Capacity

The 2023 F-150 Lightning is only available in a SuperCrew body style with four full doors and a five-foot-five-inch bed. The configuration results in a spacious amount of interior space for adults in both rows. Unlike the gas-powered F-150, the electric Lightning model has a 14.1 cubic feet of cargo space in the front trunk. The front trunk can also hold up to 400 pounds.

With the Standard Range Battery pack, the F-150 Lightning can tow up to 7,700 pounds and haul up to 2,000 pounds. The Extended Range Battery pack brings a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds and can haul up to 1,800 pounds. Towing with an electric truck can severely affect the vehicle’s range.

Safety Features

Even the entry-level Pro trim comes with a lengthy list of standard safety features. Pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and automatic high-beam assist are standard.

The XLT adds a surround-view parking camera and front parking sensors as standard. Moving up to the Lariat brings adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist, intersection assist, evasive steering assist, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and traffic sign recognition. Ford’s hands-free driving assist system that’s called BlueCruise is only available on the Platinum trim, as is active park assist.

Connectivity

The base F-150 Lightning comes standard with a 12-inch touchscreen, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Amazon Alexa, six audio speakers, Bluetooth, navigation, and multiple USB ports. The electric truck also comes with two 120-volt outlets in the bed, four in the front trunk, and two in the cab. A 2.4-kW Pro Power Onboard power supply is also standard.

SiriusXM satellite radio is standard on the XLT trim and above. Going with the Lariat brings Ford’s more advanced infotainment system that includes a 15.5-inch touchscreen, a wireless charging pad, an HD Radio, and eight audio speakers. The Lariat also comes with Ford’s 9.6-kW Pro Power Onboard system that adds two additional 120-volt outlets in the bad, along with a 240-volt outlet. The Platinum is the only trim to come with Ford’s Phone As A Key feature and comes with a standard 18-speaker audio system.

The interior features dual-zone automatic climate control, vinyl floors, vinyl upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, and heated front seats.

The $1,950 Tow Technology Package includes a surround-view camera, heated exterior mirrors, forward parking sensors, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, a trailer brake controller, onboard scales with smart hitch removal, and trailer reverse guidance.

The major package with the Lariat is the Lariat (511A) Equipment Group that’s priced at $10,850. It adds Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 with BlueCruise and Phone As A Key, a twin-panel moonroof, the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering column, heated rear seats, rear storage, and all of the features from the Tow Technology Package. 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum – MSRP From $98,669

With features like premium leather upholstery, massaging front seats, heated rear seats, a twin-panel moonroof, aluminum and wood trim, and 22-inch wheels, the Platinum doubles as a luxury truck. It also comes with the Tow Technology Package and Max Trailer Tow Package as standard equipment.

CarsDirect Tip

With the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning being far more expensive than before and costing quite a bit more than a similarly equipped gas-powered F-150, it’s best to stick with one of the truck’s lower trims. The XLT comes well equipped with convenience features and is available with high-tech features and extra niceties through the XLT Equipment Group for shoppers that want a nicer pickup. For consumers that plan on driving their truck long distances, the Extended Range Battery pack is a must-have.
