What's New
The 2023 Acura TLX newly offers a hand-assembled limited-production PMC Edition version although its 300 units have already been reserved. All trims gain a complimentary three-year subscription to Acura’s remote connectivity services and two years of free maintenance but otherwise, the mid-size sedan is largely a carryover model, having been recently introduced in 2021 and gaining a high-performance variant in 2022.
Choosing Your Acura TLX
The Acura TLX is available in five trims: Base, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, and Type S. Base prices range from $41,045 to $56,745. The Type S PMC Edition is priced at $63,995.
Engine Choices
The TLX is offered with two engines. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine provides 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque which is routed through a 10-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels. Acura’s flexible torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system is available for $2,200 (and standard on the Advanced trim). A turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 is fitted with the Type S trim and puts out 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque from a low 1,400 RPM. It is also fitted with the 10-speed automatic transmission and is standard with all-wheel drive.
Fuel economy ratings from the EPA are 25 miles per gallon combined for the front-wheel drive model 24 MPG with the all-wheel-drive system fitted, and 21 MPG for the Type S performance model, which aren’t particularly good numbers for the class.
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The TLX seats five and its body stretches to 194.6 inches in length and 75.2 inches wide which puts it about as long as an Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Despite that added length, the interior of the TLX provides only 34.9 inches of rear legroom and 36.3 inches of rear headroom. Its trunk volume of 13.5 cubic feet is about average for the class.
Safety Features
All trims except the base trim feature a full roster of active safety features such as automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert, full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist with low speed follow, and parking sensors in the front and rear.
The TLX earns a five-star crashworthiness score from NHTSA and is a 2022 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ with Superior crash prevention scores and Good ratings for its headlights.
Connectivity
The TLX features a 10.2-inch infotainment display with a remote touch interface pad, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, HD radio, Wi-fi, natural-speech command recognition, and two USB charge ports while the Technology trim gains navigation with Real-Time traffic and an ELS Premium Audio 13-speaker sound system. The A-Spec trim and above are equipped with a more premium sound system with 17 speakers and a wireless charging pad.
2023 Acura TLX Base – MSRP From $41,045
The standard trim features 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, daytime running lights, tail lights, a sunroof, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, a capless fuel filler, and proximity entry. Inside, the TLX includes synthetic leather seats with 12-way power adjustability and heating, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a seven-inch driver information display, dual-zone climate control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
2023 Acura TLX Technology – MSRP From $45,045
The Technology trim gains the added safety and audio equipment plus 19-inch wheels, perforated leather seats, and multi-color ambient lighting.
2023 Acura TLX A-Spec – MSRP From $47,795
The A-Spec trim wears a gloss black exterior grille surround, window trim, and lower rear bumper, gray 19-inch wheels, a black trunk spoiler, LED fog lights, perforated leather seats with suede inserts and ventilation, and geometric pattern aluminum interior trim.
2023 Acura TLX Advance – MSRP From $52,245
The Advance trim features 19-inch machine-finish wheels, adaptive dampers, rain-sensing wipers, power-folding mirrors with puddle lights, a heated wiper park area, a key-fob remote engine start system, a surround-view monitor, a head-up display, 16-way power front seats with adjustable seat extensions and side bolsters, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and open-pore wood trim.
The Type S trim is fitted for improved performance with 20-inch lightweight wheels, additional chassis bracing, high-performance brakes, a tighter steering ratio, a unique grille for improved airflow, a gloss black front splitter and rear diffuser, uniquely tuned dampers, an active exhaust with quad outlets, an additional Sport+ dynamic chassis setting, and 16-way adjustable seats with suede inserts. Feature-wise, it is equipped similarly to the Advance trim, minus the head-up display.
The Type S PMC Edition was made available to order online earlier in 2022. All examples have been claimed. It should be relatively easy to identify one however, with its unique bronze-colored wheels, black roof panel, door handles and badging, black chrome exhaust finishers, carbon fiber rear diffuser, and decklid spoiler. Inside, the PMC Edition features carbon fiber trim and a numbered serial plaque. It is offered in three unique exterior colors: red, white, and blue, and features corresponding interior colors. Each PMC Edition is hand-assembled, wrapped in a full car cover, and shipped to dealers via an enclosed single-car carrier.
