What's New
A performance-focused Estrema model joins the Stelvio family in 2023, importing some of the features found in the flagship Quadrifoglio model. The rest of the range is unchanged bar the odd nip and tuck, with prices for most models a few hundred dollars higher than last year.
Choosing Your Alfa Romeo Stelvio
The Stelvio comes in five trims, with the most affordable (Sprint) being the only one available with RWD. In this guise, it costs $47,795 (all prices include destination), with AWD a $2,000 option. There are approximately $4,000 increments between Sprint and the AWD-only Ti, Veloce, and Estrema models, while the high-performance Quadrifoglio will set you back $89,095.
Engine Choices
Most Stelvios are powered by a 280-horsepower two-liter turbocharged gas engine, generating 306 lb-ft of torque and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy stands at an EPA-estimated 22 miles per gallon city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 combined in RWD guise, dropping to 22/28/24 for AWD models.
Quadrifoglio models are unique in being powered by a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, producing 505 hp and 443 lb-ft. The fuel economy isn’t great at 17/23/19 MPG.
Engine Type | Horsepower | Torque | Fuel Economy (City/Highway/Combined) |
2.0 turbo | 280 hp | 306 lb-ft | 22/29/25 mpg (RWD) 22/28/24 mpg (AWD) |
2.9 V6 | 505 hp | 443 lb-ft | 17/23/19 mpg |
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
Cargo capacity for the five-seater Stelvio stands at 18.5 cu ft with the rear seats in place, and 56.5 cu ft once they’re dropped.
Safety Features
Every Stelvio is impressively safe, featuring adaptive cruise control capable of bringing the car to a standstill. Front and rear parking sensors join blind spot and cross-path detection, including full-speed forward collision warnings and hill descent control. Automatic LED exterior lights (including high beams) and wipers are standard on every model, as are front Brembo brakes, while Quadrifoglio models receive Brembos all around and a torque-vectoring rear differential. Advanced driving aids like traffic jam assist and traffic sign recognition are options on Ti models and up.
Connectivity
The Stelvio’s Stellantis origins are betrayed by the presence of a Uconnect multimedia system – an 8.8-inch screen powering HD radio and navigation in every model. The stock stereo is an eight-speaker affair, though a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system is an option on all models except for the base Sprint, and standard on Quadrifoglio. Wireless charging comes as standard across the range.
2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Sprint – MSRP from $47,795
The most affordable Stelvio is impressively equipped with keyless entry, push-button start, a remote liftgate release, and power-folding auto-dimming outside mirrors. There’s a six-way power adjustment for the front seats including four-way lumbar and driver memory, while the front and rear seats are all heated. Dual-zone climate cools the cabin, with highlights including a seven-inch TFT display behind the leather-wrapped heated sports steering wheel.
There are no packages available on Sprint models.
2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti – MSRP from $53,405
Riding on larger 19-inch aluminum wheels fitted with run-flat tires, AWD-only Ti models are the first to benefit from a dual-pane sunroof and oak wood interior trim. There are also modest external tweaks, such as gloss black window surrounds.
Ti models have two packages available. The $1,975 Premium Interior and Sound Package adds leather across the dash and upper doors, alongside a 14-speaker Harman Kardon stereo. Better value is found in the $1,595 Active Assist Plus pack, whose seven safety aids range from lane keep and traffic jam assist to traffic sign recognition and active blind spot alerts.
2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce – MSRP from $57,045
Subtle external revisions to Veloce models extend to a sports rear diffuser and 20-inch aluminum wheels. There’s eight-way power for the driver’s seat plus power-adjustable seat bolsters, aluminum pedals, and interior trim.
Packages are the same as on Ti.
2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Estrema – MSRP from $60,945
Active suspension is fitted to Estrema models, alongside 21-inch wheels, carbon fiber mirrors, and a matching grille. This is the first model fitted as standard with a 14-speaker Harman Kardon stereo and carbon fiber interior trim.
Only the Active Assist Plus pack remains available.
2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio – MSRP from $89,095
There are various mechanical concessions to this model’s thunderous 2.9-liter V6 engine, including four-wheel Brembo disc brakes with advanced brake assist, a quad exhaust system, and a torque-vectoring rear differential. Inside, manually adjustable thigh support helps to keep occupants in place round tight corners, while a carbon fiber steering wheel is a standout feature.
The Active Assist Plus package drops $100 in price, to $1,495.
Compare Stelvio Trims Side-By-Side
Considering how generous Sprint’s standard specifications are, we see no reason to venture higher up the Stelvio range, unless you can’t live without Quadrifoglio’s extra power and performance.
