The Ford E-Transit is an electric version of the Ford Transit van, and exists as a carryover model for 2023.

The current Ford Transit was first released in 2013, and arrived for the US market for the 2015 model year. Ford introduced the all-electric E-Transit variant for the 2022 model year. It shares a body with the gasoline-powered Transit, but has a unique frame to account for the electric powertrain.

The E-Transit shares components with two other Ford EVs, the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning. Peak output is 266 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Range in its most aerodynamic configuration is 126 miles, which is low for a car, but this is a large commercial vehicle.

The E-Transit can go from being 15 to 80 percent charged in 34 minutes when connected to a 115-kW DC fast charger, and in 65 minutes when connected to a 50-kW charger. Ford’s 120V-240V charger is standard, while the Ford Connected Charge Station is an optional extra.

There are several different E-Transit configurations available. It is available in three lengths, two wheelbases, and three roof heights. All configurations are rear-wheel drive and have a gross vehicle weight rating of 9,500 pounds.

The E-Transit features the same interior anointments as the traditional Transit. Ford’s over-the-air-enabled SYNC 4 system is standard, along with a 12” voice-capable screen. Optional equipment includes navigation, adaptive cruise control, and reverse braking assist. The E-Transit also features an available 2.4 kW power supply for powering tools.

The 2023 E-Transit has a starting price of $55,585, including destination. For reference, the traditional Transit starts at $45,180. In addition to the traditional Transit, the E-Transit competes with the RAM ProMaster, Chevrolet Express, and GMC Savana. It’s worth noting that the E-Transit is the only EV van offering currently for sale in the US.
