What you must know before purchasing your Bronco Sport. Use this pricing analysis to negotiate the best price with the dealer.

Highlights:

  • 2021 Bronco Sport selection slowly improving
  • Lease: From $329 for 36 months
  • Rebates: $500 off for all buyers
  • Finance: From 0% for 48 months + rebate

All-new crossover:

The 2021 Bronco Sport continues flowing into dealers nationwide. We expect supplies to hit critical mass by next month. The Bronco Sport borrows heavily from the Escape, even though it's named liked the upcoming Ford Bronco SUV.

Surprisingly, Ford is already offering 0% financing and a modest rebate on the Bronco Sport. We expect dealer pricing will be close to MSRP in the near term. In some parts of the country, dealer markups have reached $10,000.

Current factory offers vary by region and are scheduled to remain in effect through July 6, 2021 unless otherwise noted. It's possible Ford will offer Memorial Day deals with extra savings close to the holiday.

Lease: From $329 for 36 months

For the second month, you can lease a 2021 Bronco Sport in Big Bend trim from $329 for 36 months (10,500 miles a year) with $3,229 due at signing.

The effective monthly cost works out to $419, which is better than some previous offers, but still rather expensive for this price class. But keep in mind this is an all-new model and interest is high. Terms will certainly improve as the model year progresses.

Rebates: $500 off for all buyers

Ford continues to offer a $500 rebate on the 2021 Bronco Sport to all buyers. While that might not seem like a lot, it's more than we expected considering the model's popularity.

Finance: From 0% for 48 months + rebate

In addition to the $500 rebate, you can get special financing starting at 0% for 48 months. Ford also offers 0.9% for 60 months and 2.9% for 72 months.

Introduction

What's New

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is an all-new model. It borrows its underpinnings and powertrains from the Ford Escape, a crossover that has long catered to a conservative crowd. But the wee little Bronco Sport is anything but conservative. It is bold, stylish, and rugged, a go-anywhere vehicle that's built for folks who dread the day they need to buy a vehicle like the Escape.

Though only about 20% of parts differ from the Escape, those are the parts that will be key to convincing shoppers this is the better choice over a Jeep Renegade, Cherokee, or Compass. First and foremost is the styling, which goes in the opposite direction of the rounded Escape. Other exclusive gear includes the entire interior, an upgraded suspension, an improved all-wheel-drive system, and off-road-focused drive modes.

Choosing Your Ford Bronco Sport

Ford is offering the Bronco Sport in five trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, and First Edition. Pricing starts at $28,155 including destination and climbs to $39,655 for the First Edition.

Engine Choices

The Bronco Sport shares its powertrains with the Escape. The Base, Big Bend, and Outer Banks come standard with a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder, while the Badlands and First Edition come with a 2.0-liter turbo-four.

Engine TypeHorsepowerTorqueFuel Economy (Combined)
1.5L Turbo 3-Cylinder181 hp190 lb-ft26 mpg
2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder245 hp275 lb-ft23 mpg

Both engines pair to an eight-speed automatic transmission that's also shared with the Escape, but here the power is fed into an all-wheel-drive system on all models; no front-wheel-drive version is offered. The tendencies of the AWD system can be altered by a terrain management system with five unique drive modes.

All models can shuffle up to 50% of power to the rear when necessary, and they also can disconnect the rear axle entirely for higher efficiency.

The Escape also offers hybrid and plug-in hybrid options, but no word yet on whether those will be make their way to the Bronco Sport lineup.

Passenger and Cargo Capacity

The Bronco Sport will seat up to five passengers, and though it rides a shortened version of the Escape's wheelbase it boasts more interior space. Leg room in the rear is a hair under 37 inches.

The Bronco Sport offers 32.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, or 65.2 with it folded down. These figures drop to 29.4 and 60.1 cubic feet, respectively, with the larger engine.

Safety Features

Like most Ford models, the Bronco Sport gets Ford's Co-Pliot360 suite of active safety features. The grouping of aids includes automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist, and forward collision warning.

Starting on the Big Bend, the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist Plus ($795) becomes available. It brings adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist, and rear parking sensors. These features become standard on the First Edition.

Connectivity

Every Bronco Sport comes with an 8-inch touchscreen featuring Ford's Sync 3 infotainment system. It gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard and also can host a wi-fi hot spot. All models get FordPass Connect access, which allows owners to control certain functions like remote start and door locks via a smartphone app.

On the options sheet, buyers can choose features like wireless charging and voice-activated navigation with SiriusXM traffic updates. The luxury-minded Outer Banks model gets an exclusive 6.5-inch all-digital gauge cluster not found elsewhere in the lineup.

Base - From $28,155

The cheapest Bronco Sport isn't exactly bare bones in the way of, say, a base Jeep Wrangler. For starters, it gets power windows and locks, cloth upholstery, three power outlets, a 4.2-inch LCD driver information cluster, and a manual tilt and telescoping steering wheel.

Big Bend - From $29,655

Moving into the Big Bend buys additional features such as a rubberized cargo floor, zippered pockets on the seatbacks, easy-to-clean cloth upholstery, two-way folding rear seats, and heated side mirrors.

Outer Banks - From $33,655

The most luxurious Bronco Sport, the Outer Banks, eschews a western-themed name for an eastern one. Among its standard features are luxuries like a heated steering wheel, 18-inch wheels, ambient lighting, power-adjustable and heated front seats, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Badlands - From $34,155

The Badlands trades off the luxuries of the Outer Banks for some serious off-road kit. A special suspension, all-terrain tires, the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, a more advanced all-wheel-drive system, two additional drive modes, and paddle shifters. Trail mode, a sort of low-speed cruise control for the trail, is also standard.

First Edition - From $39,655

By far the most expensive trim here, the First Edition is exactly that – an exclusive model for this year only that pair sthe luxuries of the Outer Banks with the hardware of the Badlands. Other features found on the First Edition include a 10-speaker Bang and Olufsen audio system, a power moonroof, and leather upholstery. Rounding out the one-off nature of the First Edition are a variety of exclusive color options.

CarsDirect Tip

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is a good looking and trail-savvy option even in base form, but the Big Bend trim makes more sense for most buyers. We'd spec the optional safety equipment and then point this baby Bronco toward the nearest trailhead.
