There are no additions to Genesis’s GV80 SUV for the 2023 model year, though the rear-wheel-drive base model has been dropped to create an AWD-only range. There’s still a choice of two engines, with three trim levels but no available packages.

Whether you choose the 2.5-liter or 3.5-liter turbocharged gas engines, you can then specify one of three different trim levels – Standard, Advanced, and Prestige. Prices start at $56,645 for a 2.5-liter Standard model, rising to $76,195 for the 3.5-liter in Prestige guise.

The $71,695 Advanced+ Standard model is a seven-seater standalone, combining the two lower trim levels without the option of adding Prestige specifications, though it does gain the latter’s air suspension.

The Genesis GV80 is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged gas engine, whose 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque are supplied to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy stands at an EPA-estimated 20 miles per gallon city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 combined.

The more powerful 3.5-liter V6 produces 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque, utilizing the same drive and transmission setup. Fuel economy dips to 18/23/20 mpg in both the five-seat and seven-seat configurations.

Cargo capacity for the five-seater GV80 stands at 33.9 cu ft with the rear seats in place, and 84 cu ft once they’re dropped. Move up to the seven-seater model, and cargo capacity falls to 11.6 cu ft with every seat in place.

Safety is strong across the GV80 range. Every model receives forward collision avoidance and lane-keeping/following assistance, plus rear cross-traffic and blind-spot collision avoidance assist. Smart cruise control includes stop and go, there’s a driver attention monitor, high beam assist, and rear occupant alerts. However, standard models miss out on a surround-view monitor and parking collision avoidance.

As well as an eight-inch digital instrument cluster, the GV80 comes as standard with a 14.5-inch HD screen that supports the integrated navigation system. Satellite and HD radio are standard across the range, as are full smartphone mirroring and wireless device charging. The Genesis Digital Key provides remote operation for the locks, engine, alarm, and trunk. However, you’ll have to splash out on Premium trim to receive a 3D digital instrument cluster or a head-up display.

Every GV80 is impressively equipped, with a power hands-free liftgate and power-folding outside mirrors with puddle lamps projecting the Genesis logo. Inside, you’ll find leatherette seating and matte wooden trim, heated and powered front seats with four-way power lumbar plus a heated steering wheel. Buyers specifying a 3.5-liter engine also benefit from a panoramic sunroof.

Since Genesis regards trim levels as packages in their own right, there are no packs available on any model.

Advanced models are the first to receive ventilated front seats, a Lexicon premium audio system, and leather seating surfaces. A surround-view monitor improves visibility on this surprisingly large vehicle, and remote smart parking assistance additionally helps with squeezing into smaller parking spaces.

A panoramic sunroof is fitted to 2.5-liter models for the first time. Advanced+ models with seven seats also gain air suspension as standard.

Riding on electronically controlled suspension and 22-inch alloy wheels, Prestige models benefit from active noise control and forward attention warning systems. Inside, there’s a power cushion extension and power bolster for the driver’s seat, three-zone climate control incorporating heated second-row outboard seats, and a 12.3-inch 3D digital instrument cluster that also includes a head-up display.

Buyers of a 3.5-liter GV can spend an additional $1,500 upgrading Prestige trim to Prestige Matte. Points of difference include matte paint finish, a suede headliner, and ventilation for the outboard second-row seats.
